Here's where you can watch the nominated performances/films.

Let's meet the panelists

PLEASE WELCOME...

His film credits include The Flamingo Kid, Hamburger Hill, Single White Female, The Temp, Jeffrey and Dracula: Dead and Loving It!. Currently he's working as a designer on a show written by a beloved friend and inspired by Sofia Coppola's The Virgin Suicides and the novel on which it's based. What a great panel! Jeffrey was my first gay experience at the movies, so I'm particularly stoked for Steven Weber. (Plus I see him at the grocery store, so it would be fun to say "great job on the smackdown" to him.)

Omg...the guy who gets a stiletto in his eye from Single White Female!! so exciting :) and I'm rooting for Billie Burke all the way, love her warbling comic wit.

Great list of names for this panel. I look forward to what the panel will say about this lineup because when it comes to earlier film it can be quite unpredictable to how someone will respond. Personally I support Bainter's win and I look forward to some discussion of her as a performer as she's so underrated as an actress from her period

I have a thing for Steven Weber.

Steven Weber was a huge crush of mine when I was a teenager. My current crush is Claudio Alves 😅

Great panel!!

Really looking forward to this Smackdown, I'm a classic movie head and the 30's/40's are my favorite period. Four of the best character actresses of their time, and a soprano in her only notable movie, going head to head is very exciting.

I love Joanna Robinson! She is a great podcaster and a terrific voice on twitter as well. I'm looking forward to her mysterious first book....

I used to watch Steven Weber on TV series "Wings"in the 1990s. He looks magnificent.

August 31, 2020 | Unregistered CommenterMorton

Wow, what a fun panel! Really like Britney Young and Steven Weber, and about time Claudio joins in!

@Sean: I'm also totally hoping Billie Burke takes this one, I thought she and her movie were delightful.

It's JEFFREY! (And other favorites.)

August 31, 2020 | Unregistered CommenterDan Humphrey

Love Britney Young in GLOW. Carmen is one of my favorite characters, if not *the* favorite among so many great ones!

August 31, 2020 | Unregistered CommenterLynn Lee

Nathaniel...

Can you PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ask Steven Weber for any fun tidbits from the set of SINGLE WHITE FEMALE? :)

August 31, 2020 | Unregistered CommenterDAVID

This is such a fun group! Love Webber from a couple titles, love Joanne from a couple podcasts. And I'll get to know what Cláudio's voice sounds like!

August 31, 2020 | Unregistered CommenterNick T

!!! Joanne Robinson who I've loved listening to so many times AND Steven Weber (was a devoted Wings viewer, and liked him a ton in the The Shining). Nice line-up! Looking forward to it.

August 31, 2020 | Unregistered CommenterScottC

OMG. I just watched Jeffrey the other day ... and here is Steven Weber! Such a lovely actor.

August 31, 2020 | Unregistered CommenterCharlieG

Heard Weber was terrific in the television remake of The Shining. Has anyone seen it?

August 31, 2020 | Unregistered CommenterMichael R

Excited to hear from all of them but so cool to have Steven Weber on! Hope there's lots of discussion on who else would have been amazing that year - terrific film year but not as big a fan of these nominees overall.

August 31, 2020 | Unregistered Commentereurocheese

Damn. Nathaniel GURL. You made it.

September 1, 2020 | Unregistered CommenterJuanita

These panels are consistently brilliant!

September 1, 2020 | Unregistered CommenterMJ

You have the legend from Single White Female and Wings on the panel!

September 2, 2020 | Unregistered Commenter/3rtful

Nick T -- I hate hearing my own voice, so I'll never listen to this episode of the podcast. That being said I hope you don't find it as bad as I do.

I also hope you guys enjoy this smackdown. I was so nervous when recording the conversation, I'm afraid it's all repetitive ramblings on my part, Still, it was great fun to do one of these and to discover some of these films which I'd never watched. I won't spoil my thoughts on the performances but this was a fascinating bunch and I'm very interested in seeing how the reader's votes influence the final result. It's a tight race.
