1 day til Oscar. What's your #1 wish for the ceremony?
A simple prompt today. The Oscars are tomorrow night. You've read our predictions, our category reviews, voted on the charts (hopefully), and seen most of the movies you wanted to.
So what's your #1 biggest wish for Hollywood's High Holy Night?
I'll go first: I want The Father to win Best Film Editing. That might seem like a strange request since it's not one of the headline categories but in most of the marquee categories, I'm either excited about the presumed winner or there are extenuating circumstances (usually previous rewards or loving the performances in similar amounts) preventing me from being too invested in the outcome.
How about you?

Gonna have to go with Mulligan, though part of me would still love to see Glenn win one even for a not the best of the bunch performance. Also high on the list: Hopkins. I know Boseman is totally deserving, but Hopkins put in one of the best performances of all time.
I had a nightame whith Chicago 7 winning best picture
Minari wins nothing.
Judas and the Black Messiah wins Original Screenplay.
Pausini!
You talk about Glenn Close and her 8 nominations, but what about Diane Warren with 12 and James Newton Howard with 7?
Anthony Hopkins (or Riz Ahmed) for Best Actor.
Paul raci in sound of metal
Anthony Hopkins winning Best Actor which he deserves and Emma winning Best Costume Design.
Boseman winning is the only thing at this year's Oscars I'm emotionally invested in. But I think it's clear he's going to lose given that everyone is for Hopkins.
My #1 wish is for anything other than My Octopus Teacher to win Documentary Feature. Anything!!!! This was an incredible year for documentaries.
Chloe for Best Director
Glenn finally winning
Carrie!
Mulligan
Viola Davis wins Best Actress!!!
Carey Mulligan.
@Dave Everyone posting HERE, and not really everyone, is for Hopkins. Don't confuse The Film Experience commenters for Oscar voters.
I'd like to see PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN win Original Screenplay. I have problems with the direction and the tone at the end. But that's one solid, brilliant screenplay.
"And the Oscar goes to" - Carey Mulligan.
For Glenn Close to lose again and force her to realize that doing vanity, Oscar-bait bullshit films are not the way to go to win Oscars. She's going to have to do something totally different and unexpected if she wants to win one. And remember, she was nominated for a Razzie for that performance.
Call me a hater but I'll take it as a badge of honor knowing that I don't celebrate mediocrity.
Viola Davis. Viola Davis. Viola Davis.
Smaller award: Love Song For Latasha wins Short Documentary.
Bigger award: Nomadland or Minari gets Best Picture.
I see a lot of you hoping there's a tie. Is a tie even possible considering the Preferential voting system?
I haven't seen Hopkins so far. That said, I prefer Riz Ahmed to Boseman. And, please, Mulligan!
Youn Yuh-Jung. A performance for the ages.
Marcos: They only use a preferential count for Best Picture. For the other categories, it's first past the post. There can certainly be ties. The most recent one was in Sound Editing in 2012.
Diane Warren
The Father winning something.
My no. 1 wish: Í Húsavík við Skjálfanda / Í heimabærinn minn
But since I'm greedy: I'd love to see White Eye win Live Action (Two Distant Strangers seems like the frontrunner and its messaging read as so misguided to me), anything but If Anything Happens I Love You in Animated Short (so melodramatic and heavy handed), Time in Doc Feature (here's one time where the topical film is actually great and they pass it up for a nature doc... ugh!), and Quo vadis, Aida? in International Film (Another Round is overrated).
Paul Raci for Supporting Actor. It's a stellar supporting performance.
Nomadland taking Best Picture
Best Documentary Oscar: My Octopus Teacher.
I'd really like to see The Father take Editing. Other than that, just give me the top two prizes for Nomadland.
Not likely to happen : Paul Raci.
Likely to happen : Joshua James Richards.
Possible : Anthony Hopkins, Carey Mulligan
Helen Reddy being honored in the In Memoriam section.
Glenn finally winning... Same wish i had 2 years ago
Carey Mulligan - not only was she acting, but her character was acting like she was acting - sold on both - brilliant.
Another wish... for Diane Warren to not win anything at all and for a truck load of porta-potties to land on David Foster's house. His trophy case is feeling light? Well then... here is something to add to that trophy case!
Best Picture: MINARI
Best Actress: MULLIGAN
Is this NGNG?!! I 💜 it!!
Minari wins Best Pic n Score
PYW wins Best Director
Wolfwalker over Soul
Quo Vadis Aida over Another Round
Hopkins n Ahmed ties!!!
Human Voice wins in a write in!!
Helen McCrory honoured in In Memoriam (thanks to brookesboy for the prompt, albeit for a different Helen - let’s have them both!)
‘Sound of Metal’ to win in one of the major categories
Andra Day for Best Actress, Pinocchio for Best Costume and/or Make-up and, of course, Glenn...
If I only get one...Mulligan
If I can have two...Hopkins
If I can have three...Husavik
I'd love to see The Father win production design. What they did with that set was inspired.
@thevoid99: You ARE mediocrity.
Mulligan
& Close ! (I don't care that it's not her best - she was still good and there were MUCH worse performances crowned in the past !!) ... that said I can't judge Youn yet as I haven't seen Minari
Someone giving a political speech. In the year of the assault to the Capitol and Black Lives Matter is so needed. Where is Jane Fonda when you need her?
Hey thevoid99 is actually right on that one whunk!
hi Sally! love your idea--here's a toast to our lovely, talented Helens! Hear us roar!
Glenn needs to do something different, yes, but I doubt she's getting interesting roles, period. I don't think any auteurs are dying to work with her, sadly.
Gilbert, please give me some assurance Glenn won't win this year? I've got the sick feeling in my stomach she might nab it. :S
Told ya.
