First & Last 039 - He came out swinging

Can you guess the movie from its first shot? Bonus points on this one if you can recite the first line. The last shot and the answer are after the jump...

Yes, that's Quentin Tarantino's gritty violent introduction Reservoir Dogs (1992). Harvey Keitel is so fantastic in that movie. If you ask us he's one of the most underappreciated actors. He's been in so many classics and he's so good in them.

The first line, spoken by Quentin himself, natch, is the following.

Let me tell you what 'Like a Virgin' is about. It's all about a girl who digs a guy with a big dick. The entire song, it's a metaphor for big dicks.

The gangsters proceed to argue about Madonna's "Like A Virgin". As one does.

Reservoir Dogs is currently streaming on Netflix.

Still one of the best films ever made and the first time I saw it in my teens in the mid-90s. Everything I knew about films changed and nothing was ever the same since. Among whatever friends I was hanging out with. I was Mr. White because I was the most organized.

Much as I love Tarantino, never been a fan of this one. I’m more interested to hear about Harvey Keitel being under appreciated. I’ve seen him in so many different films across multiple decades and I always feel like he is doing the exact same thing and never disappears into a character…with the exception of The Piano. In that case he definitely was criminally under appreciated. Shoulda been nominated.
