Gold Derby wonders if Oscar winner Estelle Parsons (Bonnie & Clyde) has a Tony Award in her very near future.
In Contention Guy shares his review plans for The Tree of Life in light of its premiere plans. And the new poster. Why yes, reader, here it is. Enjoy.

Playbill Kristin Chenoweth is coming back to Broadway. Details are unknown but bliss will surely follow.
Self Styled Siren 10 Films that the Siren Should Love But Doesn't. What a fun idea for a list. It's not classics you don't like that everyone else does... it's films you should like, given what you typically respond to, but just don't.

Finally...here's the Onion's vicious but laugh out loud funny Katharine Heigl tragedy "In Freak Accident, 34 Katherine Keigl Films Released At Once." Thanks to Glenn for pointing it out.

In Freak Accident, 34 Katherine Heigl Films Released At Once

So so funny though that Venus & Mars poster / concept reads 100% like a real movie. For a second I thought it was. My favorite bit was the 700% rise in self-blindings and the stressed EMT.

We're doing the best we can out here but the movies are just coming out too fast.

In truth I am one of those rare souls who kind of likes Katharine Heigl. BUT here is how I escaped the hatred: I didn't see all these crappy movies she stars in and I only watched like one season of Grey's Anatomy because it was a shlocky gooey mess. If there is one star in need of saying "no" unless it's a prestige project with A list director next time, it's her. She has enough money. A hiatus until a quality offer shows itself is the only answer to turn this ship around.

That Katherine Heigl spoof is so funny, 'dangerous for anybody even somebody who doesn't hate her'. Poor thing I caught 27 Dresses on tv the other night and I can sort of understand the success, she can be very charming on screen

I seriously do not understand this modern trend of having the two leads in a romantic comedy be totally repulsive. I bring this up here because it seems like Katherine Heigl chooses her romcoms based on this principle (how she missed being in "Leap Year" I'll never understand). But it seems like an overwhelming amount of studio-created romantic comedies are advertised with the same hook: "Look, these two people are major assholes!" "The Bounty Hunter," "The Ugly Truth," "Leap Year," I could go on.

I don't get it. Isn't the idea behind a romantic comedy that we root for the two leads to end up together because they're made for each other? It seems like, more often then not, I end up rooting for them to end up together so that they can't inflict their hideous personalities on any other poor, unsuspecting souls.

Anyone else automatically start looking for dinosaurs in that Tree of Life poster? I think I see one!

I don't get why people hate her at all. I think she's a very talented actress, just has made some wrong decisions about her movies. But I hope she's gonna do a drama soon, she would be great in something like that. The clip is funny though.

I am not digging the new "Tree of Life" poster. I loved the simple beauty of the original. This one is a complicated mess of screenshots from the trailer.

Liz -- that's totally true about "these two people are assholes". although they used to be able to get away with rough unlikeable edges in romantic leads because they were so charming and the dialogue was so funny (think screwball -- sometimes they're far from role models). but now. Yeesh. If there are no jokes and the chemistry is lacking, PLEASE make the characters at least likeable.

On the "Chenoweth back to Broadway" story, there was a report a few weeks back that Roundabout had held a reading of the Coleman/Comden/Green musical ON THE TWENTIETH CENTURY with Chenoweth, Hugh Jackman, and Andrea Martin (in the roles originally played by Madeline Kahn, John Cullum, and Imogene Coca, respectively). Since the Playbill article specifically mentions Roundabout, this would seem like a strong candidate for her return.

I want to like The Tree of Life poster, but it is just too much. It's so busy! BUT if i were walking past it in a movie theater, i would totally stop and stare at it for a minute. so i guess it achieved its purpose?

The dinosaur is two pictures below the "Tree of Life" title. It's very tiny - NYmag managed to isolate, it, though - http://nymag.com/daily/entertainment/2011/03/finally_heres_a_dinosaur_from.html

That "Tree of Life" poster is not good. Is there any logic to the way the images are arranged? Blegh.

As for the Katherine Heigl thing... as I wrote on my blog, I like her and have fond memories of that time when she was in "Roswell", early "Grey's Anatomy" (before the lover of her life died and then a few episodes later she was in love with someone else?) and "27 Dresses". But since then it has been the movies like "Killers", "Life as We Know It", "The Ugly Truth"... if anyone needs to get out of their funk it's her. Sadder thing is though, she has been the producer on some of her recent romcoms!

Can we just call it now? El Chivo for Best Cinematography! Do we really need to see the other contenders? Yeah? Okay then. I don't know how I feel about having the film premiere outside its Canner due date but I supposed we'll see. Cannes is just meant for huge world premieres, no? It just seems right.

The Onion piece on Katharine Heigl is pretty amazing. They can be really hit or miss with their jokes but this was pretty flawless.

Kristin Chenoweth supposedly with Hugh Jackman? Um, yes please.
