"these strange links happen all the time"

Alt Film Guide reports on a fascinating-sounding Art Direction seminar coming to Hollywood later this month. It's $40 for the whole series / $30 for students. I'd sign up if I were in LA. Several Oscar nominees are speaking.
Towleroad Remember when Julianne Moore was supposed to play Hilary Clinton?
Time is taking your votes for their upcoming Time 100 list. The list is narrowed down to 200 now. Naturally some movie people are on the finalist list including but by no means limited to Lee Unkrich of Pixar fame, Angie & Brad, and to my delight, The Bening.
Gold Derby Speaking of Annette Bening. She's getting another honor this time from Women in Film in June. But weirdness. They've named Katie Holmes "the face of the future" Um... This isn't 1999.

Go Fug Yourself imagines a conversation between Nicole Kidman & Keith Urban. Comes with the requisite poll of course. Do you like this look?
Twitch, noticing all the underage killers in movies, does the only sane thing one can do: LIST.
Stale Popcorn posts his self proclaimed crowning moment: a top ten Renée Zellweger facial expressions in her Case 39 movie. Oh Zeéeeee you expressive loon.
Viktor Hertz Pictogram Movie Posters? Have I ever shared these before? I can't keep track. They're so fun. The best ones are for the horror movies like Psycho and Rosemary's Baby and Magnolia. Well, Magnolia is not technically a horror movie but I like that poster too. Horror of the soul perhaps?

I didn’t love him when we met and I did so many bad things to him that he doesn’t know. Things that I want to confess to him, but now I do. I love him…. This isn’t any fucking medication talking! This isn’t. I don’t know, I don’t know. Can you give me nothing? You have power of attorney! Can you go, can you go in the final fucking moments and change the will? I don’t want any money. I couldn’t live with myself with this thing that I’ve done. I’ve done so many bad things...

They named Katie Holmes "the face of the future" because we all know what will happen to her after she gets divorced from Tom Cruise: challenging work and success! sample1 Nicole Kidman, sample2 Penelope Cruz :)

Magnolia quote...awesome.

That Julianne as Hillary pic makes me thnk I maybe don't want J playing too many real people. She's a little too good for that.

Luiserghio: No! I don't want Katie Holmes to repeat history because I want Michelle Williams to be the most famous alum from Dawson's Creek.

OT: Penelope Cruz says she'll appear in the new Woody Allen movie set in Rome.

I don't want Katie Holmes to repeat history because I want Michelle Williams to be the most famous alum from Dawson's Creek.

Michelle Williams gave birth to Heath Ledger's baby -- she's set. She's also the superiror actress of the two. Michelle works with important known and unknown autuers -- has two Oscar nominations including one for best actress and Harvey Weinstein's in her corner -- she's set.

Lol! I was joking, obviously I prefer Michelle Williams a 1000 times, but you have to admit that nobody believes in Penelope Cruz before 'Volver' (people hated her)... and you have to be a good actress to be Tom's wife, so... you never know! hahaha!

Magnolia quote, love it. Though this one was the best of course:

Who the fuck are you, who the fuck do you think you are? I come in here, you don't know me, you don't know who I am, what my life is, you have the balls, the indecency to ask me a question about my life? Fuck you, too. Don't call me "lady". I come in here, I give these things to you, you check, you make your phone calls, look suspicious, ask questions. I'm sick. I have sickness all around me and you fucking ask me about my life? "What's wrong?" Have you seen death in your bed? In your house? Where's your fucking decency? And then I'm asked fucking questions. What's... wrong? You suck my dick. That's what's wrong. And you, you fucking call me "lady"? Shame on you. Shame on you. Shame on both of you.

NINA -- lol. Julianne Moore was so robbed of a nomination for that movie. argh.

Luisergho -- it's true. I believe i'm the one who first floated the idea of tom cruise's magical acting sperm transforming his girls into brilliant actress as soon as the source is cut off (delayed reaction) way back when. even Mimi Rogers who people don't talk about is so freaking brilliant in that RAPTURE (1991) movie.

Katie Holmes will never follow this pattern. She will never be brilliant. She'll always suck. She has no range, no depth, no spark, no personality, no charm, no charisma, no appeal, no nothing. She was ok in a very crappy teen show more than a decade ago and that was her peak. Plus, she doesnt look like a very inteligent person.

Penelope was awful in english-language filme, but she was far from a joke in her native spanish. Not wonderful, but not a joke as well and she already had a career in her homeland before Tom ever happened.

Can we please talk about Ryan Gosling's "Stupid Love" trailer? OMG, I think I got pregnant just looking at him shirtless
