Links: Thrones, Ratings, Floridians

Ultra Culture has a great post on the British ratings board featuring 10 amusing nuggets from their annual report. Conclusion: at least they're better than America's sex-hating violence-loving MPAA.
Boy Culture is British actor Luke Evans (left) going back in the closet, on the eve of his double-feature blockbuster breakout (The Immortals, Three Musketeers)? Strange story.
Cleveland is very excited to have The Avengers film and wants Ohio to become a big movie-making draw. Between Ohio and Michigan's efforts, the Midwest is really trying to up the "shoot your film here" game.
Google interviews author George RR Martin on his Dance of Dragons tour. It's an hour long but you Game of Thrones junkies will probably want to give it a listen.
Playbill The King's Speech is headed to Broadway in 2012 just as we feared. Ha ha. Not really on the fear part. It's already practically a stage play so it should be fine.
Inside TV Mad Men is finally shooting again. Woooohoooo
AV Club reports that Friday Night Lights has won a "program of the year" honor from a group called the Television Critics Association (which I'm unfamiliar with but it's a different group than the Broadcast Television Critics Association). Mad Men and Modern Family took home the regular "drama" and "comedy" series prizes respectively and Game of Thrones took home the "best new series" prize. Congratulations to all.

Finally here is Nicole Kidman on the set of Paperboy again.

Whoa Nelly! and by Nelly I mean up and coming costume designer Caroline Eselin, whose previous credits include Dylan Dog: Dead of Night, Ballast and Leaves of Grass. Eselin apparently isn't shy about a riot of color... but then this murder investigation drama does takes place in Florida.

Those images of Kidman are depressing me. She had such an awesome artistic run as an actress in the last decade. She nearly had to kill someone for that 3rd Oscar nomination. Hollywood is so cruel.

Quick question Nate: Are Julianne Moore and Laura Linney comparable in how the industry sees them as respectable, nomination worthy, but aren't interested in rewarding them?
---
The Brit Actor / Gay Boy -- Tom Hardy came out. Although, he's in a straight relationship he's out as bi or at least publicly saying he won't return to dick except when a movie script calls for it. I love that we have James Franco focusing all of his attention on gay themes for his personal art projects.

To be fair guys, I THINK Nicole's character is supposed to be kind of trashy (?)

Why would you feel sorry for Nicole here? She's playing a kind of white trash death row inmate groupie. Who knows what the quality of the film will be, but it sounds like a part she could really dig into. From the part descriptions I've read it's kind of a spin on her To Die For character. I'm in!

The Luke Evans re-closeting scandal seems a bit blown out of proportion (as of now) on that site. The Wiki change could be anything, probably a studio, and the girl rumors might be just that, rumors. Until he goes on record as pretending he's straight, I wouldn't assume anything.

And re: Kidman/Paperboy : I believe the film is taking place circa 1968? I remember seeing pics of my mom in outfits like that, come to think of it, and it wasn't considered "trashy". (ok, the makeup is, but it's really just an exaggeration of what was the style then anyway, right?)

I'm loving the idea of Kidman really going out of character (and not looking like "herself"), as it were; or maybe this is right in her wheelhouse. Unlikeable characters have always been her strength. White trash, on the other hand? Not her usual thing but again, I like seeing her stretch, although I'm sure Juliette Lewis' trailer trash queen could kick Nicole's out of the (trailer) park without breaking a sweat. (Now THAT would be a hell of a match-up.)

Kidman plays a woman who's addicted to the murderers. And she's kind of slut. I think she looks good for the part.

/3rtfu11: Your comments in reference to Kidman really make no sense. She's playing a character? And based on the description of said character her attire is perfectly apt.

I'm interested to see what Lee Daniels has up his sleeve post Precious and the fact that Pedro Almodovar is producing and co-wrote the script (he even flirted with making this his first english-language film in the 90s, apparently) has me intrigued.

Kidman is going to have sex a lot. I hope they make it as NC-17.

Wait Lee Daniels and Pedro Almodovar? OMG! I don't even know where to begin to comprehend how preposterous this reality is.

I guess my desire of becoming lovers with Keanu Reeves is no longer the impossible dream.

Pizza for everybody!

I don't really know Luke Evans, but getting back into the closet as if nothing had happened must be one of the most stupid moves ever. Sure his manager must know there's this thing called the internet. Nobody forced him to come out when he wasn't a star, so I can't really understand what he and his team are thinking. Maybe they think the general audience those blockbusters aim at don't read the same things we do and will only look at the pictures of him and a woman in the red carpet? Oh well, as far as I'm concerned, he can join the club of already forgotten rising stars and sit down next to that guy in Avatar.

@JoJo - Almodovar is involved in this? How did this escape my notice? I've been wanting Kidman to work with him forever (of course, I would have preferred the Master at the helm, but still - I was already intrigued, but this project just shot the stratosphere in terms of my interest in it.)

The TCA is the group that has the biannual press tours through which almost all TV news comes, or at least, a huge eruption of it comes in January and August. All of the big TV critics/bloggers were there for the last two weeks.
