Streep just wrapped August:Osage County!! Could Into The Woods be the next to film???
I keep going back to Amour. That Riva performance haunts me. I did not like the movie as much as the majority of the critics did, but wow that performance is such a winner I'm feeling it'll get a lot of accolades à la Fernanda Montenegro but then lose to a Hollywood star in training (JLaw). Not that I'm saying JLaw doesn't deserve it.
could Fassbender be a double nominee next yer for 12 years A slave and The Counselor? It's such a shame AMPAS passed last year.
No movie in particular, only Skyfall in movies, and Taylor Swift's last product in music both of which are everywhere. Swift reminded me of how many pop starlettes there are now: her, Perry, Rihanna, Gaga, Kesha, the other one with a catchy hit (but not so catchy name, it seems) and others I probably forgot. And I wonder why there aren't male equivalents other than Bieber or boy bands. And also, who in that list is going to be the next one who's going to try movies after Rihanna.
I also watched an episode of a series with Dawson. It was a sitcom. And after that and after having a marathon of Happy Endings (I think I might hate it after that) I'm wondering what's the equivalent of sitcoms in movies. One liners, neurotic characters more annoying than funny, limited plot lines: their love lives and all the multiple variations; ensemble casts and laugh tracks (real or in the mind of the writers).
I was wondering if the film experience awards will be finished before the begin of the next love to see your opinions on all the catagories I do one with more catagories and love seeing the differnce opinions
Just watched Kinsey. Amazed at Lynn Redgraves scene and how much it closely resembles Vanessa's scene in Atonement. Same camera positioning, same hairstyle, same intensity in the eyes. Eeerily alike. Take a look if you can Nathaniel!
Rust and Bone. WOW.
From everything I've read, it sounds like Barbra is going to be terrific in "The Guilt Trip". I can't wait to see the film and how it does at the box office. Hopefully a new trailer soon that will showcase more of what the movie has to offer.
Speaking of Fassbender: If that Assassin's Creed movie he's producing goes through, could we have the first film adaptation of a video game that doesn't massively suck?
Just finished watching Cloud Atlas and...I'm not sure what to think. Some aspects I really enjoyed and some other parts not so much. Have you seen it yet Nathaniel? I'd really like to know what you made of it.
I want to see Cloud Atlas before its pulled from theaters in the same rash manner that The Master did—again, Nathan Baby, I can't let up on you. How dare you neglect the best movie of the year and one of the landmark films of the decade?
Just watched Woman Under the Influence, and keep thinking about it. Wonder if Sally Field brought the cray-cray to Mary Todd.
Finally caught up with A Separation. A good film, but not sure it was Oscar-worthy. Pina should have been nominated.
Wondering if my Oscar dreams this year will come true: a Best Supporting Actress nomination for Diane Kruger (Farewell My Queen) and a well-deserved snub to that horrible child in Beasts of the Southern Boredom.
Just saw Cloud Atlas last night, and I liked it much more than I expected. It has some major flaws, to be sure, but it was almost always engaging, although I think it says less than it thinks it does.
My movies-to-see list is now just Flight and Sessions, both of which I'm not terribly psyched for, and might deign to miss.
Any chance that the song from Holy Motors (and you know what I am talking about if you have seen it) could get a nomination? I might actually care about the song category if it did.
Sadness: The Paperboy apparently screened at the local art house theater for ONE WEEK ONLY. And since that was the week of the hurricane, I missed it. BOO.
Now this makes me even more worried that I won't get to see Amour, Rust & Bone, and especially Holy Motors.
In Murder On the Orient Express, famed detective Hercule Poirot (an incomparable Oscar-nommed Albert Finney) questions Mr. Beddoes (a wry John Gielgud) about the events of the former evening.
FOSCARELLI: What are you reading, Mr. Beddoes?
BEDDOES: "Love's Captive" by Mrs. Annabella Richardson.
FOSCARELLI: Is it about sex?
BEDDOES: No, it's about 10:30.
Sublime.
Now thinking: Wouldn't it just completely suck for non PS3 owners if Ellen Page gives a great performance in Beyond: Two Souls?
The Holy Mountain it's on my mind since i saw it a few days back...
volvagia -- i have no idea what you're talking about so i guess that makes me someone it would suck for ? only ignorance is bliss!
denny -- on demand and the quick trip to DVD sure are helping access but it is really sad that cinema culture (in terms of moviegoing) is dying such a quick death from just this problem --- lack of access to anything beyond mega blockbusters for most people outside of huge metropolises.
charlie g - they have so many potentially awesome show moments this year if they chooose well in that category. but we all know they never do. what a world!
Anna Karenina - when will it finally come out?!?
And the DVD of the fassbender Jane Eyre has so many extras I've kept it an extra week just to watch it all.
Why do I always want to type Michael's name as Fassmember?
