Oscar Dates

The countdown is on...

Oscar Nominations will be announced on Tuesday morning January 15th, 2013... or in exactly 306 days, 11 hours, and 17 minutes... or thereabouts. Not that I countdown to Nomination Morning like it's Christmas with hundreds of prezzies. Not that I do that! New Year's Eve... er, excuse me Oscar Night happens on Sunday night February 24th, 2013.

As per usual, our first set of predictions will arrive starting on April 1st, 2012. Until then there is only obsessing over this past year.

It always depresses me when I see how far away it is, but I just think of all the great films that will be out in the meantime and the fun predictions that come with simply seeing random films.

Kathleen Turner would be a great Mattie Faye in August Osage County...

She's not taking Academy Award winner Kathy Bates' 2nd Oscar in the Supporting for the exact same role and movie.

meryl streep has the lead in "Osage County" - i don't know what role. that's for 2014 - she will be competing against streisand's in her BIG return to the screen in "Gypsy"...a 70-year old playing the mother of teens / 20 year olds. anyway - if kathleen turner were eligible for best actress next year - that would be terrific. she looks great in that movie.

I was under the impression that the only roles that have been officially cast for August Osage County were Violet and Barbara (Streep & Roberts). If there is official casting news of the other roles please direct me to the announcement page.

Kathy Bates has no mention of AOC on her IMDB page. Plus, I think Roberts may be pushed to supporting by Harvey which would give her an edge over other supporting performances.
