Oh Meryl, wondrous Meryl. BTW, I have come up with my ideal cast of August Osage County (the women):
Mery - Violet
Julia Roberts - Barbara

My next picks:
Karen - Marisa Tomei
Ivy - Natalie Portman (should get some make-up to seem older)
Mattie Fae - Margo Martindale

Ten years ago, Robert Duvall would have made a perfect Beverley and in my opinion, Jane Fonda would be the perfect choice to play Violet. She would knock it out of the park and it would be a great comeback for her. May be a bit old, but so was Estelle Parsons and honestly, Jane looks much more like the ideal Violet than Meryl...

Sounds like castin August Osage County could be its own thread...

Meryl Streep is... simply put, the best. And she's looking fab!

Digital photography makes you look like hell—can we please have a film renaissance?!—but damn it if she doesn't look smashing.

Here she is fighting to get a pg-13 rather than a an R rating for the movie Bully ... so middle school and high school kids ( which the movie is actually targeted for] can see the movie. No one can say she is a non active movie star.

I guess you need a really big bag to carry THREE Oscars. Looking good Meryl!

Hi thief!—I mean, Hi Streep!

I understand that Violet's sister, Mattie Fae, is like 10 years younger than Violet. So who would you cast? I would have loved to see Streep and Lange playing sisters, but agewise it would not work. BTW, Lange would also make a wonderful Violet!
So, who could be Mattie Fae, considering Streep is 63?
I submit Patricia Clarkson (who is 53)
Laura Linney (15 years younger... mmm...)
Joan Allen or Frances McDormand, both about the right age.
Julianne Moore and Annette Benning are the right age, but they don't look like they could be Streep's sister... mmm... as if Hollywood ever cared!

I may dress like your dowdy ole grandma or spinster aunt, but I'm still the baddest bitch out there. Go ask Viola.

Give it up already ...most others have ....

rick: Should Annette Bening fans settle with the reality she'll never win Best Actress?

Meryl Streep fans as grateful as they are about her current victory wants her to have at least one more Best Actress prize over Hilary Swank, Sally Field, Jodie Foster—and lets not think about Jessica Lange possibly returning to the Oscars to accept a 3rd statuette in Supporting!

Meryl Streep rocks so bad!

what has that got to do with name calling.... I sense you are an adult but you come off as a little boy ??!!

March 24, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterrick

Always risky to mention her nowadays... a discussion is already forming here.

rick: Calling her a thief is pretty light compared to the utter hatred I unleashed once the shit hit the fan. I'm actually doing well thank you.

Jamie, there was a huge casting thread for that film a while ago. Some great ideas were there.

And Jack Nicholson really needs to be Beverly. He could get a nomination out of that. It's one scene, but it's that good, and nod worthy in the right hands.
