Saoirse Ronan Ruins Lives!

It's a vampire movie from Neil Jordan who is no stranger to supernatural beasties (see also: The Company of Wolves, Interview with the Vampire, The Crying Games ... what? There's no other explanation for how indelibly creepy Miranda Richardson is in that movie!)
Question: When will Saoirse Ronan ever be cast as a non-lethal girl again? The ridiculously talented young star (who just turned 18... god, time flies) just keeps playing killers whether literally or metaphorically. Let's review:

I realize she's got those spooky ice blue Pfeifferian eyes -- already well cast as La Pfeiffer's daughter in I Could Never Be Your Woman (one of her only roles without a body count) -- but what is her management thinking? Diversify!

Maybe there just aren't any big roles for young ladies that don't involve, you know, murder, rape, death, being in love with someone who is dead, or undead, or alive while you are dead.
Give her time. In 2 years she'll be the new romantic-comedy-star and after that everyone will be like "One more movie where Ronan falls in love with the wrong guy and I'll puke my eyes out!"

Yea she's really having trouble finding those amazing "girlfriend" roles. STOP PLAYING THE STRONG HEROINE! You're a girl! Every other film you should be playing the helpless, suffering victim! What are you thinking!?!
I like that she's not sexualized yet like that child prostititute Chloe Moretz.
I'm not at all worried about her, she already has her "Atonement" + "The Lovely Bones" + "Hanna" performances, those 3 put her into a very elite category which a lot of the "Oscar winning stars" (I shall refrain from listing names) will probably never reach.
I mean, whatever "it" is, she definitely has it and that's what paves the way for a more than memorable career.
While I enjoy watching her break things as much as the next person, I really want to see Saoirse Ronan in s giddy musical comedy or something.
3rtful: Huh? Are you talking about sexualized in the films she appears in or on the red carpet? If it's the former, that's a complaint that would be more logically thrown at Dakota Fanning (especially because of The Runaways) than at Moretz. (The closest I'd think Moretz has to a genuinely sexualizing movie role is the not yet in non-festival release movie Hick and even then, I'm not sure how sexualized she'd come across in it.) If it's the latter, I'd kind of see where someone would be coming from saying that, even if it's not something I'd try to think or say. And I will admit that Ronan hasn't had a sexualizing role in one of her movies OR blatantly sexed up the red carpet yet.

That description of her character in Atonement gave me a good laugh. Oh, Briony. I always thought that tagline of "You can only imagine the truth" was one of the most clever ones i've seen in ages.
Plus, ooh, pretty poster! I would love to see my name on a big film poster.
Sidenote: the distaste for Moretz does make me giggle a bit, but i have no problem with her. i've only seen one of her films (Let Me In) and didn't mind her in the role. It looks like people cite Kick-Ass as the root of the problems with her.
I think Saoirse suits in her roles and I'd say she chooses projects very well. Well, yeah, maybe one day she should try to play a different role but now, she really stands out as action star, serious, drama type of actress which I don't think are alot for female actresses below 20.. She's a very good actress so I think giving her a romantic-comedy movie would not really fit her.. or maybe not today. Actresses who tend to go that way don't usually last. She's building a strong image and that she should be taken seriously as an actress despite her age. I love her.
Ronan will become one of the greats, though she should be taking on more challenging roles.She turned down a supporting role in Anna Karenina - the lead in Effie (picked up by Dakota) - she's refused quality Oscar worthy roles to play an assassin in Hanna, an assassin in Violet and Daisy, an invaded human in The Host. She's way too good to be wasting her talent on such garbage. She, and we, deserve better.

@ foxtrot: garbage roles? The only role that was Oscar friendly was Effie. That's it. Her lead roles that replaced AK I'm fine with. I believe that role was more an ensemble role (nothing wrong with ensemble roles), but I find her lead role in Byzantium and The Host more complex than her potential AK role. As to my knowledge there aren't any roles that other actresses her age are booking before her.
