Reunions from the Edge

Meryl Streep has been out and about celebrating co-stars this week including Postcards from the Edge mom Shirley Maclaine who was honored at an AFI celebration.

Meryl, who turns 63 next Friday, is older now than Shirley was back when she played her mom in that great showbiz comedy. Stop spinning so fast, world! Excuse me... stop twirling so fast.

And just this past Tuesday, Meryl was all smiles on the red carpet posing with friend/co-star/rival* Viola Davis at the Women in Film Awards who she handed an award to.

From EW

Davis returned the love as she accepted the award. “I have a confession,” she said, sharing how touched she was when Streep sent her a card after [Doubt] wrapped.... “Okay Meryl, I framed the card,” Davis said. “So you can never come over to the house.”

So cute.

*honest to god when I first saw the press room photo I thought Viola's award said "WTF" but that was just my image-altering fear of the Great Streep vs. Davis Oscar Debates Resurging To Destroy My Sanity again.

Oh, no! I saw the picture very early this morning and I prayed you wouldn't due to the flu. It's great they're good sports, but I would prefer not to see them paired for a while... Give us time Hollywood!!!

Peggy Sue

Don't be ridiculous ... Davis and Streep have been friends since "Doubt"....

Streep is an amazing woman, let alone a great actress.... she has been out and about doing humanitarian benefits and working for her many loves... where does she find the time??

I believe she begins shooting "Osage" in August.

Peggy Sue -- sweet of you to wish good things (or unpainful things) for me in my convalescence. This is the 2nd time i have been feverish in one month. WHAT THE HELL? Ugh. But luckily i make speedy recoveries. I can feel my senses coming back to me. Tomorrow should be fine.

Jamie - postcards reboot.
(just kidding. NOOOOOOOOoooooo)

I recently re-watched "Postcards" and it's still highly enjoyable and fresh. The party, the Bening, Quaid's abs... it might help you recover faster!

Some entertainment show asked Meryl whether she'd do the Prada sequel while she was at the Women in Film Awards event, and she said, "I'd have to lose the fucking weight, but sure, I'd do it."

I really want that sequel to happen, so long as it's, you know, good.

Holy crap. Viola never seems to make a bad fashion move. She looks awesome.

She will need to lose A LOT of weight for "Osage" as she is drug addled ... the actresses that have done it on stage were emaciated.. at least the two I saw....

Something about Shirley's eyebrows terrifies me.

The last photo makes Viola look topless. Rock 'em.

I'm so glad Viola has longer hair again. That short reddish-brown hair she sported at the Oscars was NOT working for me at all. I guess she's back to the wigs again, but there's nothing wrong with them when they're made well with real hair.

Meryl and Viola are still besties. No bad blood between them after that night happened. Yay!
