On that Gangster Squad thing: You've revealed the moment already, so reediting is ill advised. I know it'd be losing face even more, but considering the moment's already revealed I'd complete it as is and push it back three years instead. Is it holding onto a possibly very good film for a long time? Yes. But MY choice respects both the vision of the director and writer and the victims of the recent tragedy, while the option they're choosing only respects the latter.

Nathaniel:

Did you see Jennifer Jason Leigh got the part of Emily's mom for Season 2 of REVENGE???

Thoughts? :)

David: Most places posting that news are being a bit more spoiler sensitive. I've already watched, but some people play catch up on series during the summer and you just put out quite a spoiler.

Three years? I'd imagine pushing Gangster Squad back to January or February would probably be sufficient. This reminds me, weirdly enough, of the old Nic Cage/Brian DePalma thriller Snake Eyes, where the studio made DePalma cut a climactic flood sequence from the movie. There were no reshoots, which made for an awkward final scene in which Cage talks about how scared he was when he was down in the water... an event that never happens in the movie as released. Haven't seen it in a while, but as I recall the final scene was shot as a single take master, so there was no way of cutting around it. At least WB is letting Fleischer do some reshoots.
