"It's the most difficult director choice I've had to make since I joined the academy in 1996," Lehmann said Tuesday. "There's no clear front-runner"

It worries me that this makes it seem like this guy only makes his vote depending on front-runners and buzz.

Peggy Sue -- wasn't their an infographic about that last year? I think it's gold actually.

keep having the feeling with all the factions, proponents and campaigning, that there could be lots of surprise splits this year. It could end up dull as dishwater with everything as predicted or the whole lid could blow off several categories.

I posted this before but i have to say it again:

I love Julianne Moore, but if you’re going to wear Elizabeth Taylor’s Bvlgari Emerald necklace,

YOU GO FULL-ON WHITE DIAMONDS.

Big hair, extravagant dress, "you should be glad i came" attitude.

You’d never guess that necklace is worth millions of dollars with the way she presented it.

Nat,

Have you not read the THR article/interview with an unnamed director who shared his Oscar ballot and thoughts on each category? You really oughta write a piece about it. The article is incredibly depressing, but quite enlightening.

The Best Director race is fascinating this year. Probably morbidly so, since the actual best director--Kathryn Bigelow--isn't nominated. But of these five, it's really hard to choose (and I still haven't seen Amour). I really can't decide between Spielberg and Lee.

Nathaniel, have you see this? (or maybe you posted already and I missed it) The Oscar Best Picture nominees as Pie Charts...my favorites are Les Mis and Zero Dark Thirty

The Zero Dark Thirty pie chart is perfect, especially the Broadcast News comparison.
