Pardon my absence but what's going on with you & the movies. At least internally?

There is a Film festival coming to my city (İstanbul - Turkey) and I have tickets to see Before Midnight there (alongside some others, like I'm so excited, Stoker, Starlet, What Maisie Knew) so I am super-excited for the very early peek to the cinematic wonders, it is usually October time when we have an exciting crop on the movie theaters around here.
On the other hand, I might need to travel to New York, the most cinematic of the cities, on business, thus missing my scheduled films, albeit get to hang around in one of my all time favorite cities, making myself I am walking in my own movie.
No, my life is not this fun all the time, but I am looking forward to next month.
Oh, and of course we will get to hear about the Cannes 2013 line-up quite soon, again I am super-excited on what we will get to hear from the Croisette.
Bring it on April 2013!
I love musicals - always have, always will. Grew up listening to my parents' Broadway and movie soundtracks - "My Fair Lady," "South Pacific,"Carousel," and "Fiddler on the Roof." Last week, I was in the mood to watch a musical, but one I hadn't seen before. I decided on "Camelot," even though I knew it didn't have a great reputation. Strange that I had never seen it and knew very little about it's score. After watching, I felt like I had just discovered a new all time favorite. I really loved it. Was it perfect? No way. But there was so much to enjoy, and it brought home to me that, when it comes to how movies play to us, sometimes context is everything. Perhaps it wasn't appreciated in its time because that type of film felt old-fashioned. But watching it today, it feels like a stone cold classic. It got me thinking of what other musicals are underrated. "Pennies from Heaven"? "Yentl"? "Scrooge"? This is what keeps me up at night.
