What movie topic...

...did you click over hoping to read about right this second*? (In related news, it's reader appreciation month so I might be open to requests)

I want an Oz the Great and Powerful review, comment. I feel so lonely in my non-dislike of the movie. Glenn Kenny seems a moderate fan, I'm a shade above that, but most places seem ready with knives.

Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's new project, with Naomi Watts, Emma Stone, Michael Keaton and Edward Norton :-)

And I keep checking hoping they will release a trailer for Before Midnight or The Bming Ring, my most anticipated movies right now!

A list of actors who've never been nominated for Oscar but deserve a nomination!

March 7, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterDamian

@ Mr Fox - I'm a casual trailer watcher. If it's something I can't wait to see, I tend to skip the trailers, where I will watch one I'm unsure of. That Before Midnight trailer will be tough for it's easily my #1 most anticipated too, but I don't want a single frame revealed until I get the whole cake.

Anything Billy Wilder related because I watched Sabrina this morning.

it's not exactly a movie topic, but nathaniel, what about those Q&A with questions from us readers? I think you are behind on those. they are fun!

March 7, 2013 | Unregistered Commentermarcelo

marcelo -- i'm scared to ask for questions again cuz i biffed it both recent times i asked for questions. Boo me.

cal -- you got a one track mind!

rahulio -- oooh that would be so tough. but fun

brian z -- i TOTALLY agree (re Before Midnight) i dont even like looking at stills! I didn't hate Oz that much myself but i cant say i'm a fan either... so my review probably won't be what you're looking for.

I can't get over the idea that Alejandro Gonzalez Iñarritu is doing a comedy, for crying out loud! A 180 degree turn from the misery and emotional torture that pervades his films. Good for him, I guess?

There was a lot of talk about best picture/editing/director oscars falling in line (or rarity of best pic winner without director nom). What are the stats of other categories in relation to best picture? Lately is seems that costume is a lone win for those pics as an example and many times a lone nom.

I would love to see posts about great Golden Age actresses like Barbara Stanwyck, Joan Fontaine, Joan Fontaine's sister, Irenne Dunne, Greer Garson, Ginger Rogers, etc. (Bette and Kate are obviously great, too, but they're discussed all the time).

To be honest, I'm always hoping for a new podcast. I love you four!

Nathaniel - It's okay, Oz is full of flaws, so it doesn't bug me people being mixed on it. I just fret over some people ragging on it like it's the fun new thing to kick around (John Carter).

Patrick & Be Right Back -- i cannot take requests that involve other people. I am only one person :)

March 7, 2013 | Registered CommenterNATHANIEL R

brianz -- even john carter had its moments ;)

A friend had this idea about making a list of your 25 favorite actors/actresses and count how many Oscar nominations and Oscar wins they have as a group. It's silly and pointless but fun.

March 7, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterSad man

More personal canon entries! Insanely early 2013 Oscar predictions!

(Yes, I am insatiable.)

I was thinking that Almodovar's latest is opening today in Spain and wondered whether you're excited about that, since even though I know you love Almodovar I'm not sure if you prefer his comedy work or he actually wont you over with later dramatic turns (All about my mother, Talk to her, etc).

Carlos -- i was interested since Women on the Verge which is the first one i saw (in the movie theater when it hit the states)... and then i rented Law of Desire and after those two back to back I was hooked for life.

March 8, 2013 | Registered CommenterNATHANIEL R

I saw Live Flesh again recently. WHAT. A. MOVIE. WOW. When I first saw it I didn't realize how btilliant it was. I think a top ten Almodóvar would be nice.

My boyfriend just finished rereading Romeo and Juliet for inspiration for a novel he's working on, and we were wondering about the upcoming 2013 version starring Hailee Steinfeld and Douglas Booth. Has there been any news or developments concerning the project?
