Bette gets it for me because of The First Wives Club. Her delivery is killer in that movie.
If all that Debbie Reynolds had done was Singin' in the Rain, she'd have my vote, but then there's she also gave birth to the ultimate intergalactic princess/ author who's novel became a Streep film. I mean c'mon.
Then again, I love New York New York, and, as I understand it, Ms. Minelli's mother also made a few films.
Sorry Bette. Beaches made me gag.
Bette all the way, love the other two legends, but I cry watching Beaches EVERY SINGLE TIME! I made my mom drive me to the movie theatre twice to see it when I was 13 and it first came out.
How dare you??!!!
Why? That's so cruel, i don't want to pick!
Peggy & Dana -- Heh. Sometimes I am a mean blog-master. Sophie's Choices amuse me (when they're hypothetical and not literal that is)
Yeah, that was a tough one. I had to stare at those faces for a minute to learn that my heart is with Bette.
Thanks for teaching me something about myself. :)
Liza--#1, the consummate performer
Bette--#2, someone who would/could be a fantastic BFF
Debbie--ugh. Her constant oversharing and embellished and "bedazzled" reminiscings (along with her kid, who does the same, ad nauseum) has tarnished her legacy. Take a lesson from some other greats and retire gracefully.
JohnnyBS -- she does get extra points for Carrie Fisher it's true.
Pam -- although, also. a point.
For best all-around talent, Bette Midler. She pretty much can do it all!
When Beneath My Wings trumps everything that was gay before or after.
