"Kneel Before Zod!"
Man of Steel is just 62 days away.
Do you think this'll be a big year for Michael Shannon what with General Zod and The Iceman hitting theaters soon and possibly the creepy thriller The Harvest (with Samantha Morton!!!) later in the year? I know that actors generally become far more famous (at least visually) when they're submerged in CGI for blockbusters (see also: Tilda Swinton's Narnia run) but to me Michael Shannon will always be that crazy naked guy with a thing for aphids.
What will Michael Shannon always be to you?

To me, Michael Shannon will always be the guy who should have won the 2011 Best Actor Oscar for his amazing work in Take Shelter.
The deleriously insane man in Bug, and his freakshow duet with Ashley Judd (who is his equal).
All I know is it'll always blow my mind thinking about where Shannon started, with bit parts as rednecks in Pearl Harbor and Bad Boys II.
Michael Shannon and Jessica Chastain will always be favorite yin and yang couple in a recent American movie. Their work went beyond awards, although both should have gotten nominations for their roles.
He'll also be my favorite audience surrogate, calling everybody on their BS in the torturous Revolutionary Road. To find out how much his character got cut down in the adaptation just shows how ill-conceived it was.
CMG: Yes, he was cut down. However...based on what I remember from the book...not really by THAT much. If 100% would be "every line and scene he had in the book is there", there's 75% of the character there. Which, for a character like that in a film adaptation, is a miracle, especially considering that it was Sam Mendes directing it. Worst case scenario: Shannon's character would have been cut, to help make it more of a congratulatory piece from Mendes to wife, like Paul W.S. Anderson and Milla Jovovich with the Resident Evil films.
CMG: And yes, when I say "cut", I do mean COMPLETELY.
Volvagia- That whole movie re: Mendes and Winslet is all pretty weird for me to look back on. Especially when the Titanic reunion is happening with the on-screen couple.
Take Shelter, because of the way he manifested his character's inner voice and internal struggles -- just brilliant. As an aside, he did garner several critic's group awards: Chicago, Toronto, San Diego -- which are know for their iconoclastic choices -- in a very competitive year.
Is it okay if I kneel before Costner instead?
