Greatest Calcium Deposits in Hollywood

Anne Marie here with some sculptural Friday fun. Recently, while watching Dick Cavett's immortal interview with Kate The Great, I rediscovered my favorite quote about Katharine Hepburn, or rather her cheekbones:

"The greatest calcium deposits since the white cliffs of Dover."

Hepburn undoubtedly had the best cheekbones in cinema history, but there is a veritable mountain range of other great calcium deposits in Hollywood past and present.

Here's a small smattering of my favorites:

Of course, this list is nowhere near complete. Who's your favorite broad with good bones?

Hepburn had great cheekbones but I'd have to say the ones who utilized them best were Joan Crawford and Marlene Dietrich. Those two understood the power of their key light better than anyone. Among contemporary actresses I'd say Diane Lane, Charlize Theron and Angelina Jolie.

Guy Pearce, they're the best part about him.

Oh Faye, by a long shot.

Pfeiffer! Sexy, beautiful, and talented actress.

Blanchett's cheekbones are absolutely one of a kind, they are a separate being and she doesn't have to work on "how to use them" they just do the magic by themselves.

Helena Bonham Carter has such wonderful bones. Jessica Chastain, too.

My biggest complaint about Jennifer Lawrence is that she doesn't appear to have any bones in her face...it's so round and flat.

This list should begin and end with Lena Horne.

Helen Hunt and ScarJo.

My vote goes to Charlize Theron and Angelina Jolie amongst contemporary actresses.

Let's judge women solely on their looks! Tomorrow: we'll discuss why they're terrible drivers!

How come has Catherine Deneuve not been mentioned yet?

September 7, 2013 | Unregistered Commenterhcu

Ava Gardner for sure.

Just for the record... I totally love the "ones" that are real ...

September 7, 2013 | Unregistered Commenterrick

Would it be blasphemy to mention the other Hepburn?

September 7, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterDave in Alamitos Beach

Jennifer Jones and Greer Garson

September 7, 2013 | Unregistered Commenterbrookesboy

Jennifer Jones, yes! How could I have missed that. Those things stayed chiseled at least until The Towering Inferno. :-)

Cate Blacnhett has the greatest cheekbones ever!

Also Jennifer Connelly, Rooney Mara, Greta Garbo, Marcia Cross

September 7, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterManuel

Of these, Streep, Blanchett and Dunaway. Off topic, but Lee Daniels' The Butler is a hot mess.
