Oscar Night ~ Notes Upon Arrival
I've been thinking, I've been thinking Why can't I keep my fingers off it, baby? I want it, na-na. Oscar Night. We be all night! ♫
And we can't stop And we won't stop
<-- Can't you see it's He who owns the night?! ♫
REFRESH YOUR SCREENS FOR UPDATES AS WE GO...
6:15 If you have to pee now would be a good time. It's going to be a long night.
>6:21 I will take this as a good omen for the night. The first E! interview is with Viola Davis "green is my go to color." While they're talking Liza arrives channeling the blue hair contingency of the Academy. More...
Literally!
06:24 Kristin Chenowith were her fiancee Dana somebody (producer of Captain Phillips). I half expected a Bitsy Von Muffling / Bobby Fine situation but somehow they evade it.
<-- 6:40 Looking good is the best revenge. Sorry bout it, Taye Diggs.
Idina lets us know that she has her very own room backstage with a sign "Idina Menzel Warm Up Room"... presumably so as not to shatter nearby champagne glasses with those high notes.
6:43 Chiwetel Ejiofor is having a comparatively serious conversation about Solomon Northup and the importance of the work. This is not generally how these red carpet conversations go with E! They scramble to make it more "pop" by having his sister beam in from CNN - She's beautiful!
6:45 Amy Adams in a structured fitted dark blue gown from Cucci couture. Ends up talking about her sloppy lip gloss kiss with Jennifer Lawrence.
6:53 Momentarily switched channels and ABC has Amy Adams and Idina Menzel tied for best dressed. But over on E! Lupita is all the rage in her plunging light blue dress and headband.
6:58 Pharrell came in shorts.
I would have liked his shorts more if they’d been sewn from the fabric of his abandoned hat.
7:09 Jared Leto repeating his "dating rumors" joke but this time with June Squibb. He's working his way through the entire Supporting Actress category
7:20 This picture is going around Twitter "congrats Jesus on his Oscar nomination"
No, Jesus was disqualified for e-mailing Oscar voters about that "Alone Yet Not Alone". Pay attention!!!
07:22 Sarah Paulson being interviewed. She just met Cate Blanchett on the red carpet for the first time even though she leaves in a week to start shooting Carol for Todd Haynes. She jokes that this red carpet meeting was her audition.
07:34 Jennifer Lawrence fell again Prompting much tweeting and instant gifs. The internet never fails to be quick about JLaw.
07:38 So my phone just rang ?!? It's My brother (awww) wishing me a Happy Oscar Night. That's sweet but don't you know I got started hours ago BYE
07:45 So they're showing this great photo of Michael B Jordan's perfect perfect perfect face and they leave it on the screen forever and they're talking about his collar and his tie and his watch and blah blah blah Guiliana interrupts to say something face face face he'd look good in a Speedo.
That moment when you realize you're no better than an E! Host.
08:00 Are we starting now? Or is it 08:30. The internet is in love with Lupita & Jennifer Lawrence. Still. It's been the story for like 2 months now. Stalemate I guess? But I still think Lupita is going to win. Here's Jeffrey Wright who woulda been an Oscar nominee by now if Angels in America had been a theatrical release.
So apparently Lupita Nyong'o translates loosely from Luo into "Crush them! Crush them all with darkness and beauty!"
— Jeffrey Wright (@jfreewright) March 3, 2014
I love actors excited about other actors don't you? It humanizes them somehow even though it's just a more personal form of the industry love in that is awards season.
08:07 Julia Roberts is joking around with Jess Cagle. He thinks she's making fun of his height by referring to them as Sonny and Cher.
It was more about my fabulousness!"
...she counters. Shout out to everyone who lives through 1988-1994 can you even imagine Julia Roberts back then if twitter and the internet had existed. The fangasms. The apocalypse would have come even earlier.
08:21 "AAAAhHHHhh ♥ ♥ hAHAHahhhhHa EEEeeeee WOO what did he s NO!wah? eeeeeIIIIiiee shut up ♥ ♥ ♥ but why MORE uwwhaeeewhoooo" - my brain at all times on Oscar night.
08:28 WHICH MEANS IT'S TIME TO START THE SHOW. BYE

It's unfortunate that Davis' go to color is green since that's her defeated color. Iron Lady false modesty bullshit speech flash backs.
Blue is the Warmest Color unexpected tribute from Liza Minelli?
MORE PLEASE!!!
June squibb is adorable in her interview
I just checked CNN...and they've got Piers Morgan on the Red Carpet!
Incidentally, since this is the first time in four years that there's not been a Québec film in the race for the Foreign-language category, the local media have adopted Dallas Buyers Club as the "local" favourite...because of Jean-Marc Vallée, of course. Other Québec nominees include the guys from Arcade Fire (for the Her soundtrack) and Malcolm Clarke, who directed The Lady in Number 6.
ABC just had Amy Adams on the red carpet...and that was really a great gown!
Bill - right? Amy is totally winning the red carpet unless the Lupita fever really takes over iwth the media.
I just confused Idina Menzel with Demi Moore.
I liked Bette Midler
Nat, I thought that that shade of light blue looked good on Lupita, but I thought there was too much of a train on her dress. I still think Amy's was a better choice.
Oh, you got a brother!
Jennifer felt so dramatically! Love!
I think Cate is the best-dressed. But Liza has the best hair!
Last time I watch a red carpet on ABC, it's literally 30 seconds of show and an incredible number of commercials.
Hate the white tuxedos, on anyone. But wasn't it strange that most guys didn't wear black but different shades of blue instead?
Also it felt like there were many people missing n the red carpet: Roberts, Streep, Bale, Fassbender.
Sally Hawkins looks fab!
I'm betting Wright would've taken the Robbins Oscar so many people seem to hate had AIA hit big screens.
J-law looks exactly like emma Thompson from the back!
June Squibb really looks good in that dark green with the sequins!
Did they just bleep the N-word from Fassy's Oscar clip??!!
Jared Leto is totally channeling Peter O'Toole in The Ruling Class.
Peggy she
What does " oh. you got a brother!' mean?
"Here's Jeffrey Wright who woulda been an Oscar nominee by now if Angels in America had been a theatrical release."
Or if they had paid attention to "Broken Flowers," a fine Bill Murray movie that he was fantastic in.
"07:38 So my phone just rang ?!? It's My brother (awww) wishing me a Happy Oscar Night. That's sweet but don't you know I got started hours ago BYE"
I love you.
IWho's that in front of Jen who she's trying to hold on to *lol*?
