Colin + Nicole
I woke up like this, wondering what's going on with Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman and/or their agents?
People aren't talking about this yet because the movies haven't arrived and also, undoubtedly because both stars are so prolific that it's hard to keep track of their upcoming deals. But three of their next handful of releases are together. They're husband and wife in The Railway Man (opening in April) which is largely Colin's film. Then they're nemeses in Paddington (opening in December) in which Colin is the voice of the title character and Nicole the villain. And at some point (no release date yet) they're back to being husband and wife again in the thriller Before I Go To Sleep in which Nicole plays a woman being treated for anterograde amnesia who doesn't realize she's married or has a son.
Will Colin & Nicole do a fourth? I feel they must. In their two films in which both actually appear, Nicole is brunette or blonde but you haven't really co-starred with Nicole Kidman unless she's a redhead.
That's the rule.
Though frequent pairings have a rich history in Hollywood, it went out of fashion sometime in the modern era. (Maybe franchise culture killed the desire for it, since there is so much repetition in other ways?) Frequently co-starring with the same person just isn't that common anymore outside of auteurist filmographies that use the same actors a lot in different permutations (Cooper & Lawrence & Russell lately). It's not even common when we want it to be (I'm still waiting for Brad & Angie to follow up Mr & Mrs Smith you know? And despite several indications over 25 freaking years that Pfeiffer & Bridges wanted to pair up again it never happened). It's not even common to continue even when all of the pairings are big hits (Turner + Douglas and then Hanks + Ryan quit after only three).
Who do you wish would be reunited onscreen? Will Colin & Nicole do a fourth? Stay tuned.

Kenneth and Emma. Put it aside and bring the magic back.
Jeremy Irons and Glenn Close had fantastic chemistry. They really complemented each other and knew how the other person operated, but then it must've been the theatre training.
Outside of Lawrence and Cooper and franchises, there isn't much these days that I could think of. Is it too early to start talking about Serena and three Oscar noms in a row for its stars?
Tony Leung and Maggie Cheung because In the Mood for Love is one of my favorite movies of the last 15 years. Would like to see them reunite (like the Before Sunrise/Sunset/Midnight series)
Also, I really love the pairing of Pierce Brosnan and Michelle Yeoh--can those two make another caper/thriller, with some bad-ass action?
Having seen the railway man in the UK (came out in January) I fell in love with Colin & Nicole together, she was in the movie more than I expected and made quite an impression in the "supportive wife" role. So would be happy for them to star together again and again and especially want more redhead!Nicole movies always.
The paddington movie filmed around the corner from my flat in london (my housemate saw Nicole one day !!!!) so that is exciting and really looking forward to seeing Nicole rocking a lead part again in Before I go to Sleep (Not forgetting we may see Grace of Monaco at some point this year).
It's strange how Nicole practically lived in the UK last year. But when will she be an australian again i wonder?
I always like the DIANE LANE + RICHARD GERE pairings.... I think they have wonderful chemistry together.
Dave -- ooh, that's a good one. i'd forgotten. maybe because nights in rodanthe didn't do well they gave up.
Pam -- don't tease me! especially since Maggie retired
Ryan -- Bradley & Jen. yeah. if they make one more outside of Russell films it's going to be an official thing.
Sawyer -- BEST SUGGESTION EVER
Speaking of Michelle Yeoh, I would love to see her reunited with Chow Yun Fat. They had such a souful, even sexy connection in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
This hardly counts, but can I just tell you how much I loved Stanly Tucci and Patricia Clarkson as Emma Stone's parents in Easy A? Such wonderful chemistry, such easy banter and support. I so want those characters to have their own movie, or, if not, put those actors together in some other way.
I would also like to see what else Michael Shannon and Jessica Chastain could do together. Both are such powerful actors and I would love to see what else they could do together after Take Shelter.
Sean Penn & Naomi Watts - such intensity would burn up the screen.
Susan Sarandon and Kevin Costner, a la Bull Durham. Remember what a surprising and gracious supporting actor he was to Joan Allen in 2005? Reteaming with Sarandon could be dynamite.
I'll also submit Holly Hunter and William Hurt, Michelle Pfeiffer and Al Pacino, Gwyneth Paltrow and Jude Law, and Glenn Close and Kevin Kline.
What about Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet? Or Bill Murray and Scar-jo?
DJDeeJay--I love Tucci and Clarkson together in Easy A. They did another movie together called Blind Date (prior to Easy A). It was a strange film plot-wise, but amazing chemistry and solid acting by the leads. Worth checking out (but, beware, it's depressing.)
Sawyer--Having just seen Much Ado again, I would wholeheartedly agree. Man, I pine for Beatrice and Benedict...
Woody Allen & Diane Keaton + Cate Blanchett (playing Keaton's daughter or something similar)
Thought Colin and Nicole had great chemistry in "the railway man", looking forward to their next two ventures.
Viggo and Maria FTW
Julia Roberts and Rupert Everett, Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna, Catherine Deneuve and Gerard Depardieu, Cate Blanchett and Ralph Fiennes, Leo DiCaprio and Kate, Anthony Hopkins and Emma Thompson, Joan Allen and Daniel Day-Lewis, Jack Nicholson and Shirley MacLaine (if he really decides to come back), Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, John Malkovich and Glenn Close, Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Scarlett Johansson, Tom Wilkinson and Sissy Spacek, Keira Knightley and James McAvoy... there are so many I wish to see together again, and I can go and go and go...
Miles Teller and Shailene Woodley are on their way to being a Hollywood pair with The Spectacular Now and the Divergent trilogy. They went from romantic pairing to brother/sister, of course...
Pairings I'd like to repeat:
Depp / Bonham Carter (different director, though)
Bale / Adams (a third time without all the clutter, please)
Clooney / Pitt
Clooney / Blanchett
Blanchett / Pitt
Pairings I'd like to see:
Bale / Gosling
Bale / Fassbender
Bale / Blanchett
Bale / Swinton
Swinton / Blanchett
Blanchett / Fassbender
Bale / Gosling / Fassbender (as brothers—where's the Big Valley remake?)
Blanchett / Bale / Fassbender
Hathaway and Gyllenhaal forever.
Well I'm going to go into the wayback machine and propose Barbra Streisand and Robert Redford. I'd love to see what a really great filmmaker could put together for those two since I think it was the best chemistry of Barbra's career.
And my second proposal will be utter blasphemy among cinephiles, but I'd like to see George Clooney and Jennifer Lopez together again. I think it was the best chemistry for either of them. The problem is of course that George is a huge star and J.Lo is, well, J.Lo.
If I can't have that, how about Hugh Grant and Toni Collette? Or Hugh and Sandy?
- Edward Norton & Naomi Watts: I loved them together in The Painted Veil.
- Amy Adams & Idina Menzel
- Hugh Jackman & Viola Davis
- George Clooney & Tilda Swinton
- Frances McDormand & Ciaran Hinds
I also loved the previous suggestions: Brosnan & Yeoh (Pam); Shannon & Chastain (DJ DeeJay); Wilkinson & Spacek (Joel); Bale/Adams and Bale/Swinton (Paul Outlaw).
Make it so.
Kidman and Joaquin Phoenix (To Die For) can't be the only evidence of their chemistry together.
Ty Burrell and Nicole were husband in wife in the superior (Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus). He's hot right now literally and professionally -- make it happen financiers.
Kidman and Miranda Richardson played well off of each other in The Hours. I also think Nicole would be a good scene partner for Julianne Moore.
I like the Stanley Tucci/Patricia Clarkson suggestion. Though I'm clamoring for another Tucci/Streep reunion. And speaking off... has Clarkson/Streep been in a movie together? If not, make it happen, universe!
Close and Streep - House of the Spirits gave only a tiny indication of what those two could do together. I want the real thing.
I love Marsha Mason and James Caan together. He costarred in two of her Oscar-nominated films. And while he was somewhat miscast in the second outing, their chemistry is terrific as they play out two quite different stories.
Nicole and Colin look fantastic together. I cannot wait for the first one to be released. When I think about it, she seems to have chemistry with all of her costars. That's part of her magic.
Would love to see Streep with Deniro, Nicholson or Pacino again
And speaking of Nicole... I'm sure I'm not the only one clamoring for a musical reunion of her and Ewan McGregor.
I will pay good money to see Streep and Close together in a movie, and i'll pay it multiple times. I can just hardly imagine what they're saying to each other in this pic.
I forgot to add the picture

Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor
Kate Winslet and Jude Law
Christina Ricci and Johnny Depp in a another Tim Burton movie, Hopefully a good one
Kidman and Cruise. Put "it" aside, and make something happen.
Julie Christie and Warren Beatty. Would the wife be ok with that?
Deniro and Streep
