If Fonda is considered Supporting for Youth, can't Elliott be considered Supporting for Grandma? That was quite a long, important scene, it completely shifted the story and protagonist and he had a lot of work to do in it.
Best Performance Limited or Cameo
Andie McDowell, "Magic Mike XXL"
David Arquette, "Bone Tomahawk"
Sam Elliot, "Grandma"
Norman Lloyd, "Trainwreck"
Jane Fonda, "Youth"
Fatma Mohammed, "Duke of Burgundy"
Wendell Pierce, "The Gift"
Jennifer Hagan, "Mad Max: Fury Road"
Best musical sequence has to be Oscar Isaac in Ex Machina. It was such a lovely interesting hilarious surprise. And as light as it seems, it shows the unpredictability of the character which was exactly the kind of thing that made the movie keep its suspense.
Best Ending / Best Action Sequence - the ending of The Tribe. What an incredible and chilling climax!
My nominations for Diva:
Wicked Stepmother
Furiosa
Lysistrata
Ava
Bathsheba
Edgar Ramirez - Sexpot of Every Year
Musical scene of the year: "Diamonds" from GIRLHOOD, the convenience store in MAGIC MIKE XXL, the end credits of NASTY BABY, STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON (the scene where, I forget which city it is in, they defy the police and sing "Fuck Tha Police"...
Credits: NASTY BABY has to win, surely. I also enjoyed the opening credits of OUR VINYL WEIGHS A TON, but the movie isn't worth watching just for that.
CAROL and MAD MAX: FURY ROAD for best ending, definitely.
Limited/cameo performances: Juno Temple in FAR/MADDING CROWD, Shacottha Fields in FORT TILDEN, Shirley Venard in KUMIKO, Sam Shepherd in GRANDMA, Christopher Meloni in DIARY OF A TEENAGE GIRL.
A little late but --
Villian: Marion Cotillard in Macbeth. (Also FYC Supporting Actress!)
Cameo: Noni Hazlehurst in Truth and Jimmy LeBlanc in Spotlight.
Sexpot: Emory Cohen in Brooklyn! and Lèa Seydoux in Spectre.
Ugh I love these but I still have a glut of films to catch up on this year but here a couple I'd bang the drum for now:
DIVA - Greta Gerwig as Brooke in Mistress America. Plenty of delusions, charisma and enablers to go around!
Best Performance in a Limited or Cameo Role - Elizabeth Debicki as Lady Macduff in Macbeth. Her final scene lands incredibly well!
I could probably come up with a mile of suggestions, but I've got two:
Best Musical Sequence: Bette Davis Eyes, The Final Girls
If you told me that a Malin Akerman strip tease could make me cry, I'd have thought you were crazy
Best Cameo: Gana Bayarsaikhan as Jade, Ex Machina
As the only other speaking robot (I think, I saw it in April), her ferocity in the role has stuck with me despite only having only a minute or two of screentime
Michael Cyril Creighton, Neal Huff and Jimmy LeBlanc in SPOTLIGHT for best cameo.
hope i'm not too late...
