Beauty Break: Cool Riders

We hope you enjoyed National Bike to Work Week. We didn't make too big a thing about it but for Tim's trip back to The Triplets of Belleville, Nathaniel's childhood awe at seeing Kermit ride a bike, Lynn's recall of the kid's bike fantasy channeled in E.T. The Extraterrestial, and two instant watch recommendations with gays quite attached to their cycles.

RDJ showing off. What else is new?

I wanted to play along physically but I couldn't bike to work because I work from home and that would be highly impractical going from bedroom to work station.

To close out this little detour, please blast some Stephanie Zinone while you lust after these cool riders aka beautiful actors on bikes. Which of these bikes would you hop on and whose handlebars would you ride?

Many more beauties and hot wheels after the jump...

Drew Barrymore was such hot shit in the 1990s. Anyone else miss her?

We weren't really thinking motorcycles but La Pfeiff will be disappointed if we don't include a couple so here are two cool riders just for her, Chris Pratt and Brad Pitt.

Jean-Louis Trintignant long before the sadness of Amour (2012).

Natalie Wood in the woods, backward. The prettiest of movie stars.

Kathryn Grayson you saucy saucy minx. Are you actually going to ride that thing or are you just teasing?

There are actually lots of good photos of Brad Pitt on bikes but they are usually very small as if no one ever thought to go back and scan them large or in  hi-res after the internet finally 'got' how to do photos and had the memory for it. So many awesome photoshoots of movie stars from the 70s-early-90s are lost to the internet.

Judging by these two photos Rosalind Russell does not believe in pedalling. Start her at the top of a hill.

Michelle Williams selling Louis Vitton bags from her bike. She should probably wear shoes if she's going for a ride.

Gary Cooper. So lanky cool.

We only knew Sylvia Sidney as an old woman in 1980s movies (so memorable in Beetlejuice) and remember Dana Delany's impression on our 1973 Smackdown for Summer Wishes Winter Dreams? Here she is many years earlier as a pretty young thing at Paramount.

How lucky was that puppy "Assam" to have such an elegant superstar mom. I believe she had another one, same breed, called "Mr Famous"? Check out that name tag on her bike.

And God Created Brigitte Bardot

Cate Blanchett, Queen of 2013. She looks damn happy about it.

Joan Crawford likes things regimented and that includes exercize. She would like to remind you that bicycling is good for you.

And let's end with Paul Newman because who could hope to follow him?

Some pictures are from Google searches, some from Pinterest and still more from Rides a Bike tumblr. If you like these pics there's an entire book on this subject: Hollywood Rides a Bike and a set of postcards.

Has anyone in the history of mankind ever worn more ridiculously boxy blouses than Joan Crawford? And how she mixes the bombshell gams with shoulder pads that would be overkill on a linebacker just makes me love her more.

I miss that era of Drew Barrymore so much! The 90s were good for danger girls.
But I don't miss that unwashed Legends of Fall era of Brad Pitt.

Queen Cate. Yas.

The hot shit of the 90s was Winona Ryder & Claire Danes though, I mean COME ON. No one could surpass the quality of their craft and image top 2 right there

That freeze frame on the Grease 2 video clip confused me for a moment. I was wondering why Taylor Swift was making an appearance in this post...

Someone once told me I look like Brigitte Bardot. It's totally untrue, but that guy sure knew how to flatter a girl. Oh, and I want Brigitte's striped pants.
