A Question For Readers About "Curio"
For those of you who missed it during much Oscar nomination hullabaloo, Alexa who ran the Curio column has left us after great years of arts & crafts each Monday. The demands of cinephilia and mommyhood were too competitive! She encouraged us to keep the series going and wants me to do more art myself (which I know I should -- oh to master time!). But we're not sure how we'll revise the series exactly.
Do you like online arts and crafts? Do you enjoy mashups and fan art? Do you follow any artists or webcomics or the like? Love to hear some input in the comments. In the meantime please look at this amazing looping Vine (i've put it after the jump for this who can't handle this much manic looping imagery in the background while they read the blog) but it's a trippy must for The Force Awakens / John Boyega fans.

Fan made merchandise was my favorite art featured from her series.
awwww I looked forward to her so much.... Will miss you Alexa!
I loved the alternate/artsy movie poster posts.
I rarely commented on the Curio posts but always enjoyed them. I love etsy and made a few purchases after seeing items featured here.
I rarely comment on this series but wish to thank Alexa for this intriguing little corner of the blog.
Love the vine video and while I don't purchase curiosity items I like looking at the creative impulses of others.
I always like seeing the creativity that art inspires in others, so I always enjoy seeing fan art or fan-created merchandise.
But it has to be said- I'm sick to death of minimalist posters.
Love the cinema related art, and always check your links to the artist. I think it's a nice connection to your abilities, and offer your readers a window to creativity of a more personal nature. The "Carol" drawings were especially fun.
Thank you to Alexa for those inspiring posts. I really enjoyed them.
To answer your question, I like art inspired by cinema, but also cinema inspired by art and discussion about that. (For example: TLo showed stills of Carol compared to photographs by Saul Leiter. I really loved that.)
I miss this feature. :,(
