"To enter the mind of a killer she must challenge the mind of a madman."
Oh...um... If this door should fall down or, ha ha, anything else, this is the number for our Baltimore field office.
I love Clarice Starling's little 'I mean... what could happen?' nervous chuckle just before she slides under that fateful "Your Self Storage" facility door, don't you?
Remember when we tag-teamed Alfred Hitchcock's Rebecca? We're doing the same for Jonathan Demme's thriller classic Silence of the Lambs (1991) for its 25th anniversary next week. Be here Monday through Friday at 12:30 PM EST next week for each continuing chapter of the retrospective!
For maximum pleasure, if we may use such a word for this macabre event, rewatch 1991's Best Picture with us and join the conversation!

My favorite part of this movie: a wide February release won Best Picture. Could you even imagine this happening today?
Looking forward to this, I still find those final scenes scary to watch.
Fried Green Tomatoes is turning 25!
Nathaniel you have to give me guest contributor privileges because I cannot sit back and let someone else write their opinion of the movie and Evelyn Couch.
OH FUCK YES THANK YOU!
TSOTL is just my most favorite movie ever and the two leads are simply delicious in their roles.
Better be watching this tonight with a nice chianti.
Yay! That Rebecca series was great. So excited to see another one!
The moment when her knee snags on the nail and her trousers rip and blood comes out - still painful to watch no matter how many times I see it.
Gonna enjoy this retrospective!
Just watched The Silence of the Lambs again for the umpteenth time last Halloween and I can't believe that was already over three months ago! Time flies. This is my favorite horror movie of all time, so I'm sure I'll be here to say something about it.
Too bad Foster gave up acting. She's a very particular kind of actress. Most actors try to show range; she's a specialist in doomed stubborn strong women.
Of course that doesn't mean repeating yourself, but trying to dig deeper in a kind of role to make every single one unique.
I was watching "And the Oscar Goes To ..." on TCM with my mother last night (because I am really cool, you guys) and when they showed Hopkins winning for this film, she said, "That movie is so disturbing, but I'll never forget seeing it with your father and telling him it's probably the best film I've ever seen."
I had to walk across a deserted parking lot at 2 AM after seeing this movie.... at least I hope it was deserted.
Glad to see this series continuing!
It would be nice to see AMPAS celebrate the anniversary by having Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster present Best Picture... next year. (February 2016 is the 25th anniversary of the film's release, but February 2017 is the 25th anniversary of its Oscar wins.)
Brevity -- That would be fun! But I'm betting AMPAS gets Morgan Freeman to present best picture.
Has Foster officially given up on acting? I know she doesn't hit the big screen often, but has she actually retired?
That makes me sad. She's exceptional in thrillers in particular.
She's retired from acting because there's no niche she fills in midlife.
