Octavia Spencer is a Class Act
Octavia Spencer posted this painting above with the following message for screenings TONIGHT at the Rave in Baldwin Hills, Los Angeles
I've bought the 8 PM showing of Hidden Figures... if you know a family in need that would like to see our movie but can't afford it have them come. It's first come first served. My mom would not have been able to afford to take me and my siblings. So, I'm honoring her and all single parents this MLK weekend. Pass the word.
Very cool gesture from a very cool actress.

Wow, that's incredibly moving
I am without words. That is an amazing gesture.
That's the sweetest thing I've heard all week. Awww
Wow, this is amazing.
5th Spot here she comes.
Every year at the SAG Awards when they do the "I'm ___ and I'm an actor" intros, sometimes the anecdotes ring true and sometimes they don't. It's just hard to picture movie stars as "working actors" in the spirit of the union they belong to. Especially the young and beautiful overnight successes who didn't toil very long before hitting it big.
I think Octavia embodies the spirit of the Screen Actors Guild more than anyone I can think of. She's a humble tradesman with no airs or pretensions, aiming to stay busy and do work that means something to her. She's handled her career key-change with such wit, grace and gratitude.
You can tell that she sincerely expects nothing from Hollywood, and any bit of acclaim or recognition she gets is just gravy.
She is amazing. Never a false note, no matter the size of the role. Bravo!
I did not tear up.
That's wonderful. She always seems like a great person.
Looks like it's by this artist:

Ryan T -- thanks for the info. Updated the post
I've got tears in my eyes.....
Wonderful, whether she's wowing us in Snowpiercer or playing the patent, OH SO patient DMV person on The Big Bang Theory.
Displaying why her performance in The Help isn't the only reason that she received an standing ovation for her Oscar win from her peers. Just what I needed to read to start off my weekend.
Terrific actress, terrific lady.
She is s class act and a damned good actress. However, your "lovely" Nicole Kidman
while on the red carpet. Stated that she felt we should all get behind zTrumpas as our President. KoLovey Lady??!!
I wondered what Spencer might have done with Viola's role in Fences, since Viola played it exactly as I suspected she would as Mrs Mills the extended version.
Why did Denzel shout all his lines in Fences.
I love her so much, she's so warm and nice as a person and such a wonderful actor too. I saw Hidden Figures this week and damn she's good in that film. That scene in the bathroom is all kinds of great.
I wonder what Spencer might have done with Viola's role in Fences? Since Viola played it exactly as I suspected she would as Mrs Mills the extended version.
Spencer would have rubbed her belly and bugged her eyes out.
Why did Denzel shout all his lines in Fences?
Because he directed himself.
I thought Hidden Figures was terrific and Octavia radiated warmth and competence. Sounds like it's something she comes by naturally.
I disagree on Spencer 3rtful.
AWWWW Shamira!!! this is so awesome!!! Congrats mama.
Listen black actresses aren't interchangeable. Viola Davis is very different than Bassett, Woodard, Winfrey, the actress who played Vi on Orange is the New Black. And Spencer isn't even competitive with these women in terms of talent. The major criticism of her work in Hidden Figures is that it is a reheat of what she did in The Help. But The Help was her first real role playing a character with an arc.
@Mark Gordon
That is fucking awesome. A true class act in an age of classlessness.
What a lady.
