Jeff Goldblum Returns for "Jurassic World 2"

Park guest Robert here! When the Jurassic Park franchise was rebooted in 2015 reception was mixed. There was surely lots of dino chaos to behold, but the movie lacked the spark of the original trilogy.
I was personally horrified that they brought on beloved character actress Judy Greer only to have her be relegated to the worst kind of "worried mom crying on the phone" role. That being said, I love the Jurassic Park films and will no doubt be seeing every sequel that gets ground out of the Hollywood script machine for years to come. I wouldn't say that I was hype for the next installment until I laid my eyes upon the news that JEFF "DR. IAN MALCOM" GOLDBLUM HAS SIGNED ON FOR JURASSIC WORLD 2...
Those familiar with the franchise will of course remember Dr. Malcom as the off-beat, flirtatious mathematician who stole the show so much so that he stared in the sequel, The Lost World (spoiler alert: Michael Crichton even brought the character back from the dead in his second novel, which he wrote after the success of the first film), and was spared from the unpopular threequel Jurassic Park III.
Goldblum's inclusion in Jurassic World II will mark the first overt cross over between the two sets of films, B.D. Wong's reprisal of his minor role from the original movie notwithstanding. Considering the popularity of Dr. Malcom from the original trilogy it isn't surprising that he would be brought back, although I am very pleasantly surprised that it actually came to fruition. If anything I hope this opens the door for more of an influence from the original trilogy on the new films, and possibly also for a certain golden haired paleontologist to make a return.
Are you excited about Goldblum's reprisal? Or would you rather Jurassic World carve its own path?

Anyone think Goldblum deserved an Oscar nod for JP.
Jurassic Park is the most influential movie of my childhood, but I was really disappointed with Jurassic World (and all the other sequels). I hope the new one is better (at least, the director is more promising), and I'd love to watch the amazing Laura Dern to reprise her role as Dr. Ellie Sattler.
"Lacked the spark of the original trilogy" I think you meant to say lacked the spark of the original movie. Jurassic Park is the only one I would consider a good movie, but I prefer Jurassic World to lost world or Jurassic 3. Going back to the park was a smart move.
Mike Troutman: Well, I think the idea he was presenting was supposed to be that he felt that The Lost World and Jurassic Park 3 had more ENERGY to their stupid, while World's stupid was shockingly lifeless in presentation.
Yes the Lost World and JPIII both deeply flawed movies but they at least had the essence of what made the original movie great -- amazing, flowing action set pieces, on the fly character development, and amazing practical effects -- while World to me is like annoying kids rolling around in a glass ball and a terrible "you're not complete until you have kids!!!" moral that was both sexist and totally shoe horned into the story. It had its moments but just felt like it was dead behind the eyes.
I thought Jurassic World kinda sucked and I have little hope a sequel would be anything more than dumb popcorn entertainment, at best. Hopefully Jeff Goldblum will liven things up.
It'll be nice to have Goldblum back.
markgordonuk: I would have nominated Attenborough rather than Goldblum - but I would have given Goldblum nominations for The Fly and the little-seen Adam Resurrected.
I feel nothing for this series. Outside of the flawed first movie nothing subsequently works as entertainment.
