Terry Gilliam's "Quixote" is Complete
Chris here, with some heartwarming news: a film nearly twenty years in the making has finally wrapped filming. You'll remember Terry Gilliam's ill-fated attempts to adapt Cervantes's legendary Don Quixote to the big screen as they were told in the documentary Lost in La Mancha - floods, lost funding, and casting woes made this film one of the most notorious productions of all time.
But now Terry Gilliam's The Man Who Killed Don Quixote will rise from the ashes of cinema history. Gilliam has completed filming - with a new cast that includes Adam Driver, Jonathan Price, and Stellan Skarsgård - and Amazon will bring the film to theatres sometime next year. Someone please protect the digital print (or film, if Gilliam went that route) from any mishandling so that Gilliam isn't put through the ringer again!
Gilliam's last film The Zero Theorem came and went quietly, but we suspect this one will get much attention on arrival given its unfortunate history. You can probably bank on a major film festival to debut the film as well. Regardless, it will be fantastic to see this story come to a happy ending for Gilliam! Do you have any troubled productions that fascinate you?

It did cost a Unesco heritage site in Portugal which was partially destroyed during filming.
That is great news. I hope it is really good and Gilliam can rest easy knowing he made a Don Quixote movie. We can forget all of those other crappy movies on Don Quioxte except for that unreleased one by Orson Welles.
I have zero interest for the movie but I'm so glad he finally did it!
I wish I could understand the appeal of Adam Driver. Less interested now.
"Don Quijote de la Mancha" is one of the biggest pieces of Spanish literature ever made and the language is one of the biggest reasons why it's so well regarded in the Spanish-speaking culture. I don't care if it'd take him 3 centuries to make it, fuck this MIERDA.
Cal roth, thank you for pointing that out. Yes, that is causing quite a stir in Portugal, and it did cause a lot of damages to a national treasure.
"fuck this MIERDA"
Me34, I hear you.
Same goes for Versailles or Genius., tv-series with everyone speaking in English with grotesque French/German accents.
Dear Pam,
Adam Driver's appeal lies in the fact that critics consider him to be one of the greatest, if not THE greatest actor of his generation. Add to that incredible charisma on screen and his off screen reality as a US Marine and a shy, yet confident, unpretentious man, and you have massive appeal. As Tom Baker ( the 4th Dr. Who) said, "I'm easily pleased by the very best."
