Doc Corner: McQueen

"It's an excellent film, very well balanced, full of fascinating talking heads, and beautifully put together." -Edward L

"This should be the fashion documentary that makes it through to the final 5." - Peggy Sue

"I saw this in the UK last week. I was fascinated --especially the relationship with Blow and reflections on his gender politics. Would recommend." - catbaskets

La Pfeiffer Gets Waspy

No, not WASPy though perhaps she is that, too. As you've undoubtedly heard by now -- especially if you eagerly listened to the latest podcast -- Michelle Pfeiffer will co-star with Michael Douglas in Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018). While Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly are playing the title characters, so are Douglas and Pfeiffer in a way since their characters Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne were the original heroes that went by those names. Douglas was introduced in the first movie if you'll recall and we were supposed to believe that Janet was dead.

Whether this means CGI-youngered flashbacks or merely exposition scenes with famous faces we won't know for some time but it's a nice treat for pfans and Pfeiffer's first superhero movie since her legendary work in Batman Returns (1992). If we have to hear about superhero movies every minute of every day now, it goes down so much easier if actresses we love are in the mix. See also Cate Blanchett being delicious in every single trailer released thus far from Thor: Ragnarok

Happy to see her back to work. I liked her in Wizard of Lies, but do not see an Emmy for the role.
Anxious for Mother to come out. MOTOE i am not so hot on. Loved the original.

OMG, can't wait! Finally watched WIZARD OF LIES last night, and I was so happy she got an Emmy nomination for it. So excited for the rest of her upcoming projects!

Didn't 90's Legend tweet last year she was filling this role.

I'm afraid Murder on the Orient Express will be a bad move for everyone involved. It seems like "meh" is the best we can hope for.

I know the Ant-Man gig is a huge thing in this new era, but in my tiny little bubble it's super depressing.

July 25, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterPeggy Sue

Why is it a RePfeiffal and not a Pfeiffersance?

July 25, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterPeggy Sue

MOTOE is bad. Don't even bother getting hopes up for that one.

Where is Kyra? is likely a fall release according to one of the producers on Instagram.

July 25, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterLaLaBland

How can any1 know about MOTOE just from a trailer and a 74 original which is no classic and Finney,Bacall,Perkins,Bergman are all awful in.

July 25, 2017 | Unregistered Commentermarkgordonuk

Peggy Sue -- because "assaince" was already used for Matthew McConaughey and The RePfeiffal is funnier because it sounds like REVIVAL and we do want that spirit about this return.

La La Bland -- oh, you've already seen a movie that isn't out for months?

July 25, 2017 | Registered CommenterNATHANIEL R

Uh, there's been test screenings for MOTOE, people.

July 25, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterLaLaBland

So you were there then.

Been good & pretty bad word on Murder on the Orient Express. Sounds like it will be divisive

July 25, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterIheartmovies

I'm stoked that she's now part of the MCU and hopefully be given some good scenes and not be totally wasted like Rene Russo was unfortunately dealt with.

"Ant- Man" is the right way to do a super hero movie - not the current dreadful "Spider Man: Homecoming" ( and if he never left Queens what is coming home to? )

July 25, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterJaragon

I thought Sharon Stone had been cast in the Ant Man sequel....Pfeiffer is a surprise here. I`ve read Evangeline Lilly wanted her, Michael Douglas wanted his wife and the studio wanted Sharon...it would be nice, though , see Michael & Sharon together again.

Question: Does the "Ant-Man and the Wasp" news now make Pfeiffer the only actor to have appearances in both Marvel and DC movies?

July 26, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterAlex

@Alex off the top of my head I know Michael Keaton and Ryan Reynolds have done it, but I wouldn't be surprised if there were many others.

July 26, 2017 | Unregistered Commenterthefilmjunkie

@Alex Laurence Fishbourne also announced for the Ant Man sequel means he's also moved from DC to Marvel.
