First Poster for "The Greatest Showman"
Chris here. Forgive us if festival season has us distracted from some of the bigger budget cinematic events to come in the months ahead. But rest assured that we are still plenty excited about Hugh Jackman's upcoming The Greatest Showman. An original musical so soon after La La Land feels too good to be true - no, this isn't adapted from the Coleman/Stewart musical Barnum - but we're curious if this also has a solid chance with Oscar. All of the design elements, as witnessed in that first trailer, look eye-popping and sumptuous - but will this be more than an entertaining time at the movies this holiday season? Composers Pasek and Paul might at least have a solid chance to return to the Best Original Song race after their La La Land win last year - they're our current trophy hogs after also taking the Tony for Dear Evan Hansen.
Here's your reminder that we've got a splashy musical coming our way - the film's first poster! Why so shy about selling its megastar, I wonder - especially with some of that Logan goodwill to capitalize on...

I am completely underwhelmed by the prospect of this movie (though I also was by La La Land so perhaps I'm a little biased against films striving for an "Old Hollywood" spectacle and feel).
Hugh Jackman, Michelle Williams and Zac Efron are all actors I like intermittently, though would never trust to elevate mediocre material.
The only part of this I'm vaguely excited to see is the participation of Zendaya...
The poster is underwhelming, but I prefer it to some floating head nonsense or garish, brightly colored monstrosity. I really want this movie to be good!
Pretty poster but where's Zac? ; )
I only except a couple tech nods from this and song.
Into the Woods vibes? It's gonna suck.
I like it. Flashy but simple. Especially for a movie that seems to have so many bright colors in it, it's nice to see it have a poster that isn't overflowing with Photoshop.
I'm always down for great musicals, especially since we very very very rarely get them. And one with Hugh Jackman and Zac Efron seems perfect, but the early word wasn't positive, and that trailer didn't inspire much hope in me.
Maybe it'll be this years Billy Flynn's Long Halftime Walk.
I agree with @Steve_Man. i was expecting something much busier and gaudier. This is actually tasteful while still getting the point across and alludes to the big spectacle it hopefully delivers on. I'm sure some more garish posters will come out closer to the release date but this is fine for now.
The trailer is evidence enough this is a non-starter for everyone involved. And no the actors branch of the Academy doesn't have an itch to award Jackman anything aside from his first nomination. Which they did already.
I just hope it won't turn out the poster is better than the moxie. Stupid Fox releasing this in Oscar season instead of Logan.
Hugh Jackman deserves a mega star vehicle that showcases his talents as a super charming song and dance man. Is this it? Uhh.. I hope so?
This looks like a YA cover to me. Not in a bad or a good way. It just looks like a book cover, which is making me worry that this might be a dud.
According to the folks at Awards Watch, it has screened abysmally and they are now trying to fix it in post. They were keen on the movie in their original predictions, but once the reports started to rush in they dropped it like a hot potato. Hugh Jackman still in for a Globe Comedy/Musical nom, but that's about it.
I hope it's a huge hit!!!
Nice poster idea
I like this poster. Simplicity is just the best after that horrendous Spiderman poster. Hugh is therr and it still sells the idea of him creating a circus. What the hell else would you want?
I wonder if these early predictions to Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal will look terribly biased by personal preference instead good instinct by the end of the year. Even with red flag warmings related to these two projects...
I like the concept of this poster, but the execution does look like...well, a cheap paperback cover.
Really hope the movie is good! The role *should* play to all of Hugh Jackman's strengths.
