Some Rami to Love

Look, it's the first image of Rami Malek as the iconic Freddie Mercury in the movie Bohemian Rhapsody. The film will be directed by Bryan Singer, who is stepping away from the mutants for once, unless you count Freddie Mercury's mutant lungs / range (four octaves -heeeyyy) which maybe you should. What'cha think?

It's quite a fine image, really. Rami's unique facial structure really plays up the Freddieness once you add that moustache. For what it's worth we are promised that this will not be a traditional biopic (it covers only the formation of the band in 1970 through their Live-Aid performance in 1985). There have been murmurs that the project might not do justice to Freddie's story, or his sexuality, because the surviving members of Queen are totally involved. That's always tricky with true stories when the actual people are involved in telling it.

With deep apologies to Queen, I'm now singing one of my favorite of their hits with new lyrics

All we hear is Rami oh ga ga
Rami oh goo goo
Rami oh ga ga
All we hear is Rami oh ga ga
Rami oh blah blah
Rami oh, what's new?
Rami oh, someone still loves you!

Nice. I like Rami and hope they do Freddie justice.

Is this the same biopic that Sacha Baron Cohen was earmarked for way back when?

Yes, Mareko, It is.

Good for Rami but the idea of Sasha Baron Cohen as Freddy Mercury will always hunt me. He even won the oscar in my imaginary 2019 academy awards ceremony.

LLLLOOOOOVVVEESSSSSSSSSSS....... YOU........ OH-OH-OH-WHOA!!!!!

Rami as Freddie Mercury looks awesome. I fucking love Queen. Freddie's performance at Live Aid is GODLIKE. I believe God came down to inhabit Mercury's body and just commanded the audience. Then he came back for an encore as David Bowie.

Sasha has the chest hair for it, too.

Rami could work. The picture looks right.

When it's released and it sucks, we'll at least have this moment in which we collectively decided to kid ourselves that it could be any good.

I hope Malek lipsynchs well.If he actually sings the part, good luck stacking up to Freddie Mercury's vocals.

the surviving members of Queen are totally involved

uh-oh

"sure, freddie could sing a bit but the guitar, bass and drums is what really made it work..."

Carmen -- according that article they're planning to use a mix of Malek & Mercury's vocals with a sound-alike singer filling in the gaps between them.

I'm not even a Queen fan but I am looking forward to seeing this. I was super disappointed that Sasha Baron Cohen didn't work out as the lead, but this Rami guy looks to be fab.
