Best Picture of 2008.
It's shocking that this didn't get more recognition with The Academy. But I guess things like Doubt and The Reader were more worthy.
lol
It's my birthday too.
.....is it bad I totally forgot SebStan was in this?
Happy 36th B-day Queen Anne. She should've won the Oscar for that performance that year.
Agreed...this was her best performance.
Rosemarie DeWitt’s snub was the biggest robbery since Brinks.
A happy birthday to all who share and spread positivity in their actions and interactions. Stellar performance Anne!
@Bushwick and Debra Winger!
I remember watching this with my then-girlfriend. She wasn't ready for the tone of the film and at one point though Anne's character killed Debra Winger.
Good times.
/3rtful: Happy birthday!
/3rtful - happy belated /3rtful. you share a birthday with both Gosling and Hathaway!
Mareko -- yup. so proud i gave it my gold medal.
I've probably seen Rachel Getting Married a dozen times: First as a teenager, before my drinking took off. Then as my life deteriorated. Then as I struggled to get sober. And now, in my fifth year of recovery, words honestly fail to describe how important this film is to me.
I love a lot of movies, but I feel indebted to this one. (And yes, it deserved all the Oscars.)
Hayden -- if you ever want to write at length about your connection to that movie, let me know!
The Oscar for this performance should have been an easy get for Hathaway, but Kate was "owed" or some such nonsense, for one of the least of her nominated performances to boot.
Not related to Rachel Getting Married or Hathaway or birthdays, Viggo got into some trouble this past weekend.
@Edward L & Nathaniel R
Thank you.
Happy birthday, Anne!
For someone built up by the media as an it girl and torn down just as quickly, it's astonishing how well she persevered and kept that glowing attitude. It's also amazing how underrated she is as an actress today. She brings something refreshing and so very human to every role she inhabits. Can't wait to see how her career continues to develop!
I've never abandoned Anne Hathaway for even a second. She just has "it" in spades. Just last year I loved Colossal and Oceans 8. She can do it all without ever losing her essence. I need at least 30 more years of Anne Hathaway films!
Dave -- I would like to second, third, and fourth this. I love her so much.
Shoulda won the Oscar.
Happy belated birthday /3rtful; keep doing you.
I don't understand the hatred people have for her; could someone please break it down for me?
