• Variety Black Panther, Marvelous Mrs Maisel, One Day at a Time, and Crazy Rich Asians are all up for Humanitas prizes
• Variety Paul King, famous for making those delightful Paddington movies, will now direct a fantasy adaption of Time's Fool
• Coming Soon Alessandro Nivola, an actor TFE is always rooting for, cast in The Sopranos prequel movie. He'll play Dickey Moltisanti if that means anything to you fans of The Sopranos out there

• Deadline we forgot to mention that they handed out the craft awards at the British Independent Film Awards already (though the ceremony with the actors and directors and such is yet to come. The Favourite already won five BIFAs!
• AV/AUX best comic books, webcomics, and comic strips of 2018
• /Film Sleepless in Seattle is returning to theaters for a 25th anniversary event for two nights in December
• /Film early critical reaction to Aquaman is along the lines of uneven but ambitious, bonkers, and fun
• Variety Aubrey Plaza will be hosting the Spirit Awards in February
• Towleroad Taran Egerton and Richard Madden are sharing a sex scene in the Elton John biopic Rocketman
• Awards Daily Fosse/Verdon the miniseries will star Sam Rockwell and Michelle Williams as the titular pair with Margaret Qualley as Ann Reinking. Hmmm, can either of those two actresses dance. It would require enormous skill to look as good dancing as Gwen Verdon and Ann Reinking, two of the greatest dancers to have ever walked the earth.

That is truly a spectacular poster for Beale Street. Cannot wait for this one. I'm reading the book now and it's such a moving experience.
I cannot help but feel that Bertolucci's legacy has been ruined, and justly so, by the Last Tango shoot reveal.

Michelle Williams as Gwen Verdon seems like a truly terrible idea. They've really leaned into the typecasting and failed to cast someone who can capture the essence of the person.
Pam, I didn't hear what happened. I bet it was bad. I can't even think about Marlon Brando without being sick to my stomach. Sigh.
I need the world to pay more attention to Alessandro Nivola. He is Leading Man material (physically and talent-wise)
I always thought Qualley would be a good choice for that Madonna biopic that was on the blacklist a few years (?) ago. I wonder what happened to that

Yes, Qualley is a classically trained dancer - she studied at the North Carolina School of the Arts.
Michelle Williams is not even close to Gwen Verdon, why couldn't they have gone with Sutton Foster ? I almost screamed when I read this, how stupid are these people? While we are on this subject, Sam Rockwell isn't even close to Bob Fosse. Roy Schneider did a lot of work with Fosse to get into shape for "All That Jazz". So many great Broadway stars that should have been cast for this.
I don't like the Beale Street poster at all. It's so generic. Is it a romantic comedy?
