Parker Posey's On Top
Thursday, November 8, 2018 at 9:02AM
WHO'S ON TOP AND WHO'S ON BOTTOM NOW, HUH?
Happy Birthday to Parker Posey, who gave us the best worst audition of all time.
And here's to Libby Mae Brown and her healthy blizzard.
She'll always be our teacher's pet.

OMG I love that audition so much.
And her talking about working at the DQ: "a lot of people come to the D.Q... burgers... ice cream... anything, you know? Cokes... just drive in and get a Coke if you're thirsty."
That audition is the best deleted scene of all time in my book. Flowers in the Attic never had it so good.
Man, I love that movie. Need to rewatch.
TEACHER'S PET!
I love Waiting For Guffman and Parker Posey. But I do believe she surpasses herself with Best In Show. The scene with the "busy bee" leaves me in hysterics every time. What a great talent. Happy Birthday Parker!
LadyEdith -- This is actually my all time favorite Parker performance but agree that she's wildly undervalued in Best in Show -- second only to like Catherine O'Hara (within that movie) for comic genius.
Try to imagine Scream 3 without Parker Posey.

She's awesome! This makes me want to re-watch Guffman. Has anyone read her book?
Thanks Nathaniel, just talking about these films leaves me feeling happy. (Btw. Since you're a fan of Catherine O'Hara - have you had a chance to catch "Schitt's Creek" yet ?)
Comedies are a great tonic for coping with too much Trump.
Parker Posey is everything. Josie & the Pussycats, Broken English, Fay Grim, the Guest films, Daytrippers, Clockwatchers, The House of Yes and on and on. I’d not realised how fundamental she’d been in my emering actressexuality. Forever indebted.
Nathaniel - I agree with you WHOLE-HEARTEDLY. Not only is it the best deleted scene of all time, it's far and away her best moment in Guffman, and maybe in all her collaborations with Guest (only "Busy Bee" gives it a run for its money). I've seen auditions on that level so many times, and she nails it in every detail. I mean... the moment when she stops the scene cold because she has to tell them that there's a power cord that she's going to unplug just KILLS. The number of times I have seen people do that... She's a genius.
How has this woman worked with Nicole Kidman twice but never in a good movie? I get similarly frustrated when I think of Nicole's movie with Julia.
Anyway, Happy Birthday to a one-of-a-kind comedienne! Best in Show deserved Oscar attention.
I love this woman
