FYC?
Dearest Readers, Nathaniel and Team Experience are requesting your memory jogs as we prepare our "best of the year" lists. We're particularly looking at the following fields of joy that are sometimes hard to keep a mental list of in the busy last months of the year.
So what are YOUR favorite...
• Line readings of the year?
• Best kisses or sex scenes?
• Favorite credits sequence?
• Action sequence or fight scene?
• Cameos or tiny roles?
• Individual scenes of any kind?

Line reading: Michael B Jordan, "Hey Auntie!"
Awkwafina in Crazy Rich Asians and Anne Hathaway in Ocean's 8 were my favorite "secret weapons" of the year. Anne's whispered "I'm a lucky girl" or whatever it was made me smile the most.
I agree with lots mentioned above, but here are some additional things to consider:
Line readings of the year?
-- Paddington 2 – “Happy Birthday, Aunt Lucy”
-- A Simple Favor – “Number two, Tom Ford wishes he were me.”
-- Annihilation – the bear screaming like a human
-- Crazy Rich Asians – “But You Can’t Swerve”
Cameos or tiny roles?
-- Ocean’s 8 – the quartet of older local theater actresses who fence the goods: Marlo Thomas, Dana Ivey, Mary Louise Wilson and Elizabeth Ashley
-- A Simple Favor – Jean Smart
-- Love, Simon – Natasha Rothwell
-- A Wrinkle in Time – Andre Holland and Sade (hey, vocals count)
Individual scenes of any kind?
-- Halloween – Grandson telling grandfather he’d rather not go hunting, because he’s really into dance right now
-- Wildlife – the final scene at the photography studio
-- The Tale – that late scene where young and old Jenny interact, and the younger Jenny, walking down her school hallway, declares she is a hero, not a victim
-- Bad Times at El Royale – Jon Hamm methodically locates and dismantles two sets of bugging devices, when it’s still unclear who he is and what the movie’s about
• Line readings of the year?
Queen Anne in "The Favourite"; "“I will not, I enjoy having her tongue inside me.”
• Best kisses or sex scenes?
The brief kiss between Jonah and the older neighbor at the end of "We The Animals"
• Action sequence or fight scene?
Does Olga's dance in the mirrored studio in "Suspiria" count as an action scene?
• Cameos or tiny roles?
William in "A Star is Born"
• Individual scenes of any kind?
The pool party in Eighth Grade -- it starts as a horror sequence and ends in a new-best-friend meet-cute
Line: Nothing compares to Isabelle Huppert delivering “It’s my first time in Cannes.” in CLAIRE’S CAMERA
Ayayay! I'm so hyped for Film Bitch Awards this year + some of the FYC moments here posted by fellow-commenters are pure gold!
My picks would be:
• Line reading: "And all I get is that fucking face on your face!" (waaay more than "I am your Mother!") by our Mother in "Hereditary". There are plenty of contenders but only one true winner.
• Best kiss or sex scenes: "Shoplifters" - what a beauty: sweat, threat and wonderfully natural way of shooting human's body. Also it weight pre and post movie's third act.
• Favorite credits sequence: "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" - ehm, it's already a plot device!
• Action sequence: There is something about the sequence of Elastagirl catching the "Screenslaver" in "Incredibles 2" that I cannot wrap my head around.
Her going through the city; his creepy room and fight with flashing lights; camera movement when she runs through the stairs. I've never seen anything like it. lt's a movie that is *so* aware of what animation can do and (")live action(") movies can't!
• Cameos or tiny roles: 2019 was the year of the one and only masterful madman TOM WAITS in both "Old Man & the Gun" ("...anyway that's why I hate Christmas" would be another line reading FYC) AND the best chapter of "The Ballad of Buster Scruggs".
• Individual scenes of any kind: Lazzaro entering the contemporary world in "Happy as Lazzaro" broke my heart in all new ways but the right answer is "Burning" and its sunset dance/smoking a joint "Audrey’s Dance" moment. I don't think it can get more magical than that.
-- "The Favorite" and "If Beale Street Could Talk" had not yet opened in Ireland!
Most have been mentioned but another line reading I loved:
"Carried.........u.........nanimously" from The Death of Stalin.
