How to Wait for "How to Talk to Girls..."

by Chris Feil

It's been so long since the first much salivated over set photos of Nicole Kidman as a spiky haired punch in How to Talk to Girls at Parties, that she's had an entire awards run and career resurgence in the meantime! The John Cameron Mitchell adaptation of Neil Gaiman's short story got a quiet esponse when it debuted in last year's Cannes (outside the competition) and there hasn't been much news since. But now there's a trailer...

Today we finally got a vibrant poster and this trailer and the movie arrives in the summer. The delayed torture of denying the people a Mitchell-Kidman-Gaiman alien sex comedy set to punk rock with everyone begowned in Sandy Powell costumes? Too much to bear!

I feel like the more I see of this movie the less I understand what it is.

I wanna see this. Nicole Kidman as a punk-rocker in a John Cameron Mitchell film. That is $$$$$$$$

I've seen it at a local film festival and IT WAS GREAT. Completely it's own and it's worth seeing for Kidman alone.

Yeah, I've seen it too, last November. I honestly thought it was "over" i.e. it was never (criminally) going to get a general release.

Jeez, that's a fucking ugly poster!

I saw the movie in a gay festival in Brazil and I wish I hadn’t. It’s awful and stupid.

On my watchlist since forever. Awful poster.

They didn't put Nicole's name on there? Weird.

I enjoyed the movie though. It's so bizarre that it's truly singular and Sally Powell is doing some wonders in there.
