Ben is Such a Tease. And He's Back!
The vernacular definition of the word "teaser" keeps expanding. Now it basically means "first trailer" and they're usually two minutes in length. But here's an ACTUAL teaser "teaser," like what the word used to mean for movie marketing. Julia Roberts and Lucas Hedges star in Ben is Back.
I kind of love it for its brevity, and moodswitch / rug pull. You?

Liking it,Julia is always gr8.
Supporting Actress is the real bloodbath this year.
Short but it looks really good! Julia is coming for that second Oscar.
Looks good. The still on the embedded trailer sort of spoils the bait-and-switch of the trailer but it works nonetheless. Glad to see Kathryn Newton getting work because she was great and memorable in Big Little Lies. At the same time I am dreading when she starts to get some press, does or says something, and everyone turns on her. For now, what an exciting talent!
Also happy to see a big year for Lucas Hedges, who besides the upcoming Boy Erased and much lauded Ladybird/Manchester was a standout way back to Moonrise Kingdom and also looks exciting in the (horribly titled) mid-90s.
The way Julia's face crumbles...I'm in love.
When does this air on Lifetime?
Lucas's moms this fall will be Kidman and Roberts... wow, jealous
@catbaskets, Kathryn Newton is in all sorts of everything. Seriously, she's at a mid-/late '90s Gwyneth Paltrow-era level of film/TV ubiquity (Ben Is Back, BLL 2, Blockers, Halt & Catch Fire, Lady Bird, Little Women, Three Billboards, etc.). That said, she is super talented though I worry.
What's Eating Gilbert Grape and About a Boy showcased the terrific writing abilities of Peter Hedges, but as a director Pieces of April and The Odd Life of Timothy Green don't inspire much confidence. Pray for rain.
Lucas Hedges has the best agent in Hollywood? I think so.
Whenever I see Julia, I think "why didn't they hire Laura Linney?"
Lucas is so winning an Oscar one day. And so is Timothée.
Julia! Great
I´m intrigued now. Julia looks great!
I hope this is as good as it looks, and that Peter Hedges does a good job not only with the screenplay but also in the direction. It would be nice if Lucas Hedges can land a nomination for his father’s film. And it would be great if Julia Roberts delivers one of those fierce performances that she does better than anyone and comes back to the Oscar conversation.
I love that Lucas Hedges is challenging himself. I watched the mid-90s trailer and was shocked when he appeared in it. He's doing everything a young actor should be doing.
Lucas & Bonobo -- rather unexpectedly i love Julia in mom mode on film. Something i would not have seen coming in her heyday. Thought she was great in WONDER last year. Hopefully she aces this one, too.
JF - Oh honey, no. I don't care for her too much personally, but Julia has a one of a kind movie star charisma that Linney cannot emulate, and can't be exchanged for in every role she undertakes.
If by charisma you mean a stick with hollowed out cheeks, enjoy. No me gusta JR.
I saw the trailer and mainly impressed with Julia Roberts performance. I think she gave a outstanding performance in this movie forceful performances of her career.
