Criterion Teases 2019
Chris here. One of the cinematic treasures of the new year is always the Criterion Collection's annual animated tease of what they have coming for us cinema hounds. And dare I say that this year's puzzle is as confounding as ever - or maybe, eek, I'm drawing a blank on some of the more rarified blind spots here. One film we can count on: John Cameron Mitchell's Hedwig and the Angry Inch, already teased by the filmmaker last year. Might that be this drawing's owl and earthworm? Can you spot any other film's in the drawing?

The lute with the "K" etched onto it: Klute?
Citizen Kane?
Based on what others had said in forums and such. I'll give you a few clues.
The clock on the swing is... Swing Time.
3 three cokes on the table is.... Abbas Kiarostami's Koker Trilogy.
The angel sitting is likely an upgraded version of An Angel at My Table.
Andrew is right about that clue as it is Klute.
The owl is definitely Hedwig as it is Hedwig & the Angry Inch.
‘Children of Men’ on the very right?
Into the Rabbit Hole?
Well, one thing’s certain: the rabbit in the hole isn’t Alice in Wonderland! (Might it be Rabbit Hole or Donnie Darko?)
Is that angel Laura Dern?!
Dumont’s LA VIE DE JÉSUS
Agnès Varda’s ONE SINGS, THE OTHER DOESN’T
Jane Campion’s AN ANGEL AT MY TABLE
Spike Lee’s BAMBOOZLED
William Wyler’s THE HEIRESS
George Stevens’ SWING TIME
Alan J. Pakula’s KLUTE
John Cameron Mitchell’s HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH
Jan Nemec’s DIAMONDS OF THE NIGHT
Sergey Bondarchuk’s WAR AND PEACE
Agnieszka Holland’s EUROPA EUROPA
Though I’d love for that rabbit to signify a JCM boxset.
Roger -- OOOH a JCM box set. I could totally see it given that Hedwig and Rabbit Hole could both be interpreted from this.
The only one I caught straightaway was Swing Time though I wondered if the rabbit was What's Up Doc?
I can't figure out the balooon S and the men with the baby papooses.
The rabbit - The Matrix
The Angel and Jesus - The Seventh Seal
The Angel - An Angel at my table
Diamonds- Diamonds are forever
The tree - The tree of life
Owl - Blade Runner/ Dead Poets Society/ Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
As someone else already noted, the two men with the baby papooses are the clue for Holland's Europa, Europa (note the currency symbol on the papooses? Euro-Pa, Euro-Pa. 😂)
Nathaniel: the balloon could be Air S - The Heiress (which I'll be seeing at the Quad next week for the first time!)
Some people are so good at this (Roger, for instance) and some people so bad...
Okay, to add something, here's a really odd way to read one of the clues: There's a bird and a worm in the tree, right? And a song called The Bird and the Worm was used in the fifth episode of a TV show called Moonlight... Yeah. That's a super esoteric line of thinking (it relies knowing an obscure song used in an obscure, single season, TV procedural that shares the title with an acclaimed movie), but just a little food for thought for an alternate guess.
