Introducing the Panel for "Smackdown '01"

Thanks for all your last minute votes for the Supporting Actress Smackdown of 2001. The Smackdown and its podcast companion will be up this Thursday so let's meet the panel after the jump...

please welcome these first time panelists!

VALERIE COMPLEX
Valerie Complex, is an entertainment freelance writer and film critic. In addition to being an approved Rotten Tomatoes critic, she has written for well known sites and magazines such as The Hollywood Reporter, Harpers Bazaar, The Playlist, The Mary Sue, IGN and many others. [Twitter | Instagram ]

SHANE SLATER
Shane is a contributing writer at AwardsCircuit.com where his primary focus is documentaries and non-English cinema. He is based in Kingston, Jamaica and has covered the New York, Pan African and Toronto film festivals. [Twitter | Instagram]

and please welcome back returning panelists...

ERIK ANDERSON
Erik thanks his mother for his love of all things Oscar, having watched the Academy Awards together since he was in the single digits; making lists, rankings and predictions throughout the show. This led him down the path to obsessing about awards. Much later, he found himself at GoldDerby, led by Tom O’Neill and then migrated over to Oscarwatch (now AwardsDaily), headed up by Sasha Stone before breaking off to create AwardsWatch. He is a member of the International Cinephile Society, GALECA (The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics), the International Press Academy and is the founder/owner of AwardsWatch. [Twitter | Instagram]

JOE REID
Joe Reid is a freelance film journalist, the managing editor of Primetimer, and the co-host of the This Had Oscar Buzz podcast. [Twitter]

and your host...

NATHANIEL R (c'est moi) of course, a freelance film journalist, actressexual, crazy cat lady, film critic for Towleroad.com, a member of the Broadcast Film Critics Association, The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics, Eugene O'Neill Fellow, and Rotten Tomatoes approved critic. But you know him best as the founder/editor/owner of The Film Experience. [Twitter | Instagram ]

We'll be back together as a group to discuss In the Bedroom, Gosford Park, A Beautiful Mind, and Iris and more on Thursday.

P.S. If you have any favourite journalists, film critics, cinephile actors, or the like who you think would be perfect for a future Smackdown please do suggest them to Nathaniel who is always on the lookout for guests.
