So many awards this weekend!

Designers, makeup artists, and personal stylists must be logging looooong hours this month. There's so many awards galas happening crammed in before Oscar night. We already covered the DGA and the Annies but that wasn't all that happened this weekend (and the Grammys are still to come tonight!). After the jump, a list of other prizes handd out this weekend to luminaries like Greta Gerwig and Roger Deakins.

USC Scripter Awards
Greta Gerwig won this prize along with the posthumous Louisa May Alcott and gave this lovely acceptance speech...

CAS (Cinema Audio Society) Awards

Their winners were

Motion Picture, Live Action: Ford V Ferrari
Mostion Picture, Animated: Toy Story 4
Motion Picture, Documentary: Making Waves: The Art of Cinematic Sound
Television, Movie/Limited Series: Chernobyl
Television Series One Hour: Game of Thrones "The Bells"
Television Series Half Hour: TIE Fleabag "Episode 2. 6" and Barry "ronny/lily"
Television Variety/Special: David Bowie "Finding Fame"
Product - Production: Sound Devices, LLC: Scorpio
Product - Post Production: iZotope, Inc: Dialogue Match

Presenting the award Harrison Ford, sang the praises of the car racing drama calling it 'the kind movie they made 40 year ago, I know because I was there.' The winner of the CAS award for live-action film has gone on to win the Oscar about 60% of the time in recent years. Ford V Ferrari's big obstacle at the Oscars will surely be 1917 which was not nominated at the CAS Awards but has lately been gaining considerable Best Picture steam.

ASC (American Society of Cinematographers) Awards

Their winners are:

Theatrical Motion Picture: Roger Deakins, 1917
Theatrical Documentary: Fejmi Faut & Samir Ljuman, Honeyland
Spotlight Award Jarin Blaschke, The Lighthouse

TV Movie / Limited Series: John Conroy, The Terror: Infamy "A Sparrow in a Swallow's Nest"
TV Episode Non-Commerical TV: Colin Watkinson, The Handmaid's Tale "Night"
TV Episode Commercial TV: C Kim Myles for Project Blue Book "The Flatwoods Monster"

Yay, Greta! So well-deserved. I hope WGA and the Oscar are next.

Well done, Greta Gerwig and well done, Ford v Ferrari. I'm rooting for both films for the Oscars.

Robert Richardson has still never won the ASC award, despite three Oscars! Deakins wins his fourth ASC.

Correction: Deakins wins his fifth!

In early December I assumed THE IRISHMAN would win Adapted Screenplay. Then it looked like it could be a consolation prize for JOJO RABBIT. But now I think momentum is building strongly for Greta to win her first Oscar. Yeah!
