Glenn gives thanks (even though he is Australian)

I’m not American, but that doesn’t matter.

Living in Melbourne, Australia, means I have spent a large amount of the year in a strict lockdown. But I am extremely thankful that we have a leader who did something about that and now we’re back out in the world and I have been able watch Mank and Ammonite in cinemas this last week. Here’s some other things I am personally thankful for in the world of movies and entertainment that kept me sane in 2020:

The Film Experience, “It’s fashion”; The Invisible Man; having a new Scream movie to obsess over; Bloody Nose, Empty Pockets; Kristen Johnson as director; Marisa Tomei in My Cousin Vinny; “Oh, the fracking?”; that tracking shot in The Vast of Night; the rest of The Vast of Night; randomly remembering that The Forbidden Dance and Lambada were made by rival producer brothers and released on the exact same day; Kylie Minogue’s Disco; Jessie Ware’s What’s Your Pleasure; “Nicole Kidman theme night”; film scores with saxophone on them; any scene in Mank with Amanda Seyfried; Paul Mescal (and his rugby shorts); my fave podcasts (The Record Doctor, This Had Oscar Buzz, Deep Cuts and Superficial Wounds, Little Gold Men); Parasite winning Best Picture.

So glad to hear Amanda Seyfried is good in Mank. I don't think I've seen her in much lately. First Reformed and then...? Yeah, glad she's doing good work.

I too am thankful for Paul Mescal in rugby shorts, Glenn's Stache, & jealous of getting to go to movie theaters!

I am thankful for Glenn’s eyebrows.

The tracking shot in THE VAST OF NIGHT! A true cinematic gift.

Cate Blanchett's dad was American - she and her family always celebrated Thanksgiving in Australia, too. :)

Thanks for the moustache compliments (and the eyebrows, it took me a while to appreciate those). Haha. We're allowed to go out into the world without masks now so I'm glad the world at large finally gets to see it. :)

I have celebrated a few Thanksgivings. A couple in America and a couple in Australia hosted by American friends.

Cash, Seyfriend is very good in MANK, but for me it is more that the film is just at its best when she is on screen. She appears in bursts and a film I was already very fond of just grows and grows. Aided by the fact that the character of Mank isn't portrayed as a gross, sleazy tyrant, which is kinda what I expected tbh. Oldman and Seyfriend have a really lovely *friendship* relationship that broadens the film when the film is clearly enveloped by it.

I'm a Melbournian too - and also grateful Premier Andrews did the right thing re the coronavirus. Sure it has been tough the past 6 months but Australia has a whole has had only 1000 covid deaths. And now cinemas in Melbourne are re-opening. Glenn can you tell if the cinemas you went to were covid-19 safe? Although we haven't had a case in over 25 days I am still quite cautious and a cinema full of coughing and sneezing people would be a real concern.

And lets hope Australia continues to do the right thing and not follow in the footsteps of trump's America.

I haven't yet read this post because I saw Glenn's photo and immediately felt the need to talk about how cute he is.

Okay Glenn!

And Ammonite, Glenn, Did you like?

November 24, 2020 | Unregistered Commenteryokobama

Can I find him on OnlyFans?

November 24, 2020 | Unregistered CommenterJohn

The only Glenn we want is GLENN CLOSE.

Add me to the list of folk complimenting Glenn's good looks.

I can't believe I forgot "It's fashion" and "Oh, the fracking?" when compiling my own list. Peppermint and Bob are a match made in heaven.

Bette, So far the two times I have been the cinema limit was still only 20 and only AMMONITE reached that potential at the Kino. It was very safe as far as I could tell. Now they're allowed up to 100 I think? So it's kind of up to you -- you can obviously wear your mask still and sit by yourself (pre-booking tickets a must).

George!

"We're allowed to go out into the world without masks now"

SAYS, WHO?

November 25, 2020 | Unregistered CommenterOMS

OMS-Covid is under control in Australia, so they don't need to wear masks like the US & Europe is right now.

While I'm an Aussie, I can't help but channel a bit of Thanksgiving spirit. Gratitude knows no borders, right? I'm thankful for the mateship, the kangaroos, and even the drop bears. As I reflect, I realize how a touch of nostalgia and a sprinkle of humor, paired with a bit of https://depositphotos.com/video-background-remover.html, can make any Aussie thankful for the quirks that make us unique.
