Thirteen days until the Oscars. Are you counting down? Does this insanely stacked list of presenters move your personal excitement needle?
P.S. Isn't it weirdly embarrassing for the Academy to use a fake non-Oscar statue in an commercial for their own show? I get that they're protective of the statue as a copyright / trademark but this is a commercial for their own show. Why is the "awards show" statue some weird not-the-real-thing cross between an Emmy and an Oscar?

Still no Rosie Perez!
I'm hoping Rita Moreno presents Best Picture. (Maybe George Chakiris can join her.) Seeing Harrison Ford on the list has me worried, though.
I'm excited that Bong Joon-ho is presenting! I hope he's presenting Best Director, because I've always wished that they would bring back the previous year's winning director to pass the crown to the new winner in the way they do for acting categories.
Not to mention how much fun it would be to see an Asian director presenting the award to another Asian director.
Halle Berry always moves my excitement needle. I’m in.
It's kind of odd that for the first 3 people they zoom in from red carpet footage and for the rest they just use stills... why not just use stills for everyone? Exciting abt the show tho!
Bong Hive always and forever.
I love that Rita Moreno is going to be there. I suspect that West Side Story will be a big part of the post-pandemic world, so I hope we get to see her around more. I also just love when living legends return.
Happy to see Marlee Matlin on that list too. I suspect it's tied to Sound of Metal, but even if not I think it will be wonderful to have her there.
Bong Joon-Ho presents Best Picture to ... Minari!
I really wish we'd get a big legend that we haven't seen in a while. Like Sidney Portier - especially with the prospect of Chadwick and Viola winning.
I'd love to see Joanne Woodard and Angela Lansbury too. With the way that the pandemic has hit older folks so hard, it seems like it would be great to celebrate some of our older living actors.
I wonder if they're having Halle Berry present Best Actress? If Davis was a lock that'd make sense, it would be such a beautiful moment...but unless it's her (or Day) that's a bold choice and could definitely backfire.
Unhappily, Joe G, those older actors you cite are not in the kind of health that would allow for an appearance. Woodward has from all reports been suffering from dementia. And Poitier was enfeebled when he helped present Alfonso Cuaron his Gravity Oscar -- hard to imagine him not being in worse shape 7+ years later.
I believe Rita Moreno is a presenter because she's in "West Side Story" (1961) - 60 year anniversary. Also, she is in 2021 remake (not released yet). Great to see Halle Berry again, first Black female to win lead actress for Monster's Ball (2001) - 20 year anniversary. Marlee Matlin won for "Children of a Lesser God" (1986) - 35 year anniversary. She's the youngest Best Actress and the only deaf person. It's a nice inclusive lineup of all types - I like it very much.
@Joe G: Good call on Marlee Matlin. She's a likely candidate to present Sound of Metal as a Best Picture nominee.
@Greg F: The ABC promo lists all four of last year's acting winners: Brad Pitt, Laura Dern, Renee Zellweger, and Joaquin Phoenix. When you have all four, you're not going to stray from the traditional formula. They'll be presenting this year's acting awards.
Following up my Harrison Ford comment above, I remembered that he has been a presenter for two of the more surprising moments: Shakespeare in Love for Best Picture in the 1999 ceremony, and Roman Polanski for Best Director in the 2003 ceremony. (He also presented Best Picture to Schindler's List and Original Screenplay to Diablo Cody.)
I'd still prefer Rita Moreno, but it may be worth having Ford on stage for the final award if it's another surprise. I can already hear him saying "Promising Young Woman".
Presenter guesses follow. Wikipedia confirms the acting presenters, and somehow knows Bong Joon Ho is presenting Director.
Regina King: Makeup and Hairstyling, Costume Design
Brad Pitt: Supporting Actress
Reese Witherspoon: Humanitarian Award (Motion Picture & Television Fund)
Don Cheadle: In Memoriam
Rita Moreno: Picture
Harrison Ford: Original Screenplay, Adapted Screenplay
Bryan Cranston: Mank clip
Marlee Matlin: Sound of Metal clip
Angela Bassett: Humanitarian Award (Tyler Perry)
Bong Joon Ho: Director
Laura Dern: Supporting Actor
Renée Zellweger: Lead Actor
Joaquin Phoenix: Lead Actress
Halle Berry: Original Score, Original Song
Zendaya: Animated Feature, Animated Short
There's a lot left, even after I gave double duty to Regina King, Harrison Ford, Halle Berry, and Zendaya. Presenters are still needed for 6 more Best Picture nominee clips, International Feature, Documentary Feature, Documentary Short Subject, Live Action Short, Production Design, Cinematography, Editing, and Visual Effects. (I doubt each song nominee will be introduced this time due to the separate staging format.)
I don’t know why this is seared in my memory, but when Harrison Ford presented Best Adapted Screenplay in 2002, he mispronounced “Adaptation” as “Adaption” (a non-word). Made me chuckle.
I fear the ratings for this one will be brutal.
Nice list, but I'd like some more Old Hollywood glamour.
All that commercial did was highlight Hollywood's obsession with angular cheekbones and tasteful plastic surgery, haha.
This will be a train-wreck.
So I'm in, if only to be pleasantly surprised when they don't muck it all up.
