That Halston trailer looks good.

I remember Kerri Strugg and that nasally voice of hers as it grated my ears. I hope Thomasin tones it down as I'm more concerned who will play Bela Karoly. YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!

Didn't Chris Kattan play Kerri Strugg on SNL back in the day? I'd watch that biopic.

Is anyone else surprised that Ryan Murphy’s name isn’t in the trailer?

"The Pride Issue gives its four covers and profiles to Lil Nas X, Lena Waithe, Bowen Yang, and MJ Rodriguez." Lena Waithe is an L; Lil Nas X and Bowen Yang are G's and MJ Rodriguez is a T, No representative from the B's? Disappointing but not surprising.

@ Irvin

For the B, they'd have needed someone who's out and "hot" like the other four. That could have been Lady Gaga, whose new album with Tony Bennett should be dropping any time now.

The 1983 Oscar for Best Documentary went to “He Makes Me Feel Like Dancin’”, directed by Emile Ardolino (Dirty Dancing, Sister Act). The documentary was about Jacques d’Amboise, the NYC Ballet dancer who founded The National Dance Institute in 1976 to promote dance to children.

Jacques d’Amboise (1934 - May 2, 2021) danced the brother Ephraim in Stanley Donen’s “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers”.

D’Amboise was also in another documentary “Afternoon of a Faun” about the Balanchine ballerina Tanaquil LeClerc. While all the other NYC Ballet dancers were preparing for a European tour by getting the Salk vaccine for polio, Tanaquil didn’t feel well enough that day to get the vaccine. She caught polio in Europe and spent the rest of her life in an iron lung.

Jacques d’Amboise was Tanaquil’s dance partner, and the exquisite “Afternoon of a Faun” (partly shown in the documentary) was one of their dances together.

I'm looking forward to Halston. I wish it weren't premiering the same weekend as The Underground Railroad, though. There hasn't been much prestige tv at all this year and now we have two major event limited series at once...

That Bridgerton article is so odd, it starts off by making the argument that Bridgerton should be celebrated. But then just makes the argument that it was escapist viewing during the pandemic without ever circling around to why it should be celebrated. I just don't get the awards love for the fluff that is Bridgerton (a show that even the Globes ignored).

Nice to see MJ Rodriguez on the cover of EW.

James - my thoughts exactly.

May 5, 2021 | Unregistered CommenterHmm.

Those EW Pride cover subjects are EMOJI FIRE. I don't think I could've picked more perfect individuals to highlight at this moment in time. What a squad!

Speaking of squads... those MET Gala chairs are also fun. Hilariously I first saw Amanda Gorman's tweet about working with the other 3 but had NO context for what it was. My imagination was going wild. So when I found out it was "simply" co-chairing the MET Gala I was slightly deflated, but should be amusing nonetheless.
