Breakfast with... Joe Gideon
Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at 7:00AM
September is "Better Breakfast Month" -we're celebrating because we ❤️ food and movies.
Alka Seltzer, Dexedrine, eyedrops... a cigarette in the shower. You're ready to go!
It's showtime, folks.
This is not a healthy breakfast. Where does Bob Fosse /Joe Gideon get all that energy? Man cannot live on sex, drugs and jazz hands alone. But at least try the "it's showtime, folks" this morning in the mirror and see if that's like adding another cup of joe, fuel-wise. I will be doing the same on my first day in VENICE. ohmygod. More soon.

So happy for you Nathaniel!! It’s my dream to attend Cannes or Venice.
I say Joe’s line a lot in the morning especially when I’m really tired.
All that Jazz is such a masterpiece; makes me sad that a movie like this probably wouldn’t be made today. Instead we get sugary-safe In the Heights
Gawd, I was obsessed with this movie when it came out. Think I saw it 4 times in the theater.
Enjoy Venice! Never been but it's on my bucket list.
I love that montage.
This film is super-special, and I agree: unhealthy breakfast!
Have a great time in Venice, Nathaniel!
I have always considered the scenes with Joe and drug use to cut way too close to my own personal bone (that came out wrong, but I'm sure you get my point). Roy Schieder is wonderful and what a shame they wasted him in Jaws and whatever B movies they put him in.
Lord, I just realized it's been over 20 years since the one and only time I visited Venice. The one place where despite my lack of camera skills, ALL my pictures turned out beautiful. That's the magic of that city. I need to get back some day before it does a full Atlantis.
And that sequence in ATJ is legendary for good reason...but yes, please do better breakfast in Venice. I recommend cornettos (no, not the ice cream - the little croissants) and the coffee or espresso-based drink of your choice.
