Donnie Linko
• Esquire wonderful profile of Jake Gyllenhaal who is (maybe) at a career crossroads
• Shadow and Act suggests actresses for the upcoming Angela Davis biopic. It's certainly going to be a killer role for the right person. Have any suggestions of your own?
• Independent Sydney Sweeney talks about her work on Euphoria and that people aren't paying attention to the performance, just the nudity
• Playbill Antonio Banderas is doing Sondheim's Company as Bobby in Spain right now. He's surely the oldest Bobby ever (at 61 when the plot is very much about being in your 30s) but we'd so love to see this.

angela davis: alexis floyd [mostly because i just saw her in 'inventing anna' and i want to see her in more things]
i was hoping to hear the 'company' songs in español at that link :-(
I went to hear Angela Davis when she came to speak at my university. One of the great communicators.
So maybe?
Betty Gabriel for energy and inventiveness.
Moses Ingram for articulate speech and directness of meaning.
It just has to be Halle to play Angela, right? Put a wig on her and that's her long-overdue second nom.
From A to Z -- ANGELA DAVIS starring Zazie Beets.
@par You can hear Antonio singing Company here:

Yes, Jake is at a crossroads and if you check his upcoming movies, he took the wrong way.
I would cast an unknown for Angela Davis. Still processing Viola as Michelle Obama.
Sydney, we're gagging for you! You're my current obsession. Fabulous work in Euphoria. And the nudity is cool.
KeKe Palmer or Tessa Thompson or like the above poster an unknown.
@DAVIDE - thank you
You know the Aretha Franklin Respect movie is bad when you’re yawning through it and you suddenly realize that you would’ve preferred sitting through a Dinah Washington or Angela Davis biopic instead of that film…
How about Kimberly Elise as Angela Davis? From films as disparate as Beloved to Diary of a Mad Black Woman she is impossible to forget like Angela Davis herself.
And maybe Thomas Kretschmann as philosopher Herbert Marcuse?
double post, sorry
Sydney Sweeney seems destined for a big career. Her four prominent roles so far - The Handmaid's Tale, Sharp Objects, Euphoria, and The White Lotus - are all so different, and she was so good in each.
I haven't yet dived into season 2 of Euphoria, but I do have to question why we're seeing underage characters nude so often. Obviously they're adult actors, but if they're supposed to be children... it's a little weird.
We only get to see three cocks -one of them prosthetic- and Sydney's left boob but Americans are acting super weird about it, as usual.
Banderas seems to be able to get away with anything, right? Read a piece on him today and apparently he's turning into some kind of a mogul in Málaga, currently planning to invest in a soccer team and all.
There's something really compelling about Sydney Sweeney. There's a shade of cruelty in her beauty and I'd love to see her in a role where she can be villainous and mean.
^^^The White Lotus?
Gyllenhaal's choices since 2018 have been a bit baffling for someone who has had such a lengthy Hollwood career and his announced/in-production list is similarly un-impressive. I'm not sure what this crossroads is supposed to be right now.
Though I have to say that reading that profile with his comments about the Taylor Swift situation AND the quotes from the friend who facilitated his sexual harassment of an intern during the production of Sunday in the Park with George was...quite something. And I don't give a shit about Taylor Swift. But his stated opinion about taking responsibility for what we put into the world is just kind of astounding.
It’s been a long time since we’ve seen Gyllenhaal on the big screen. The last time we saw him was in the critically-maligned Prince of Peoria in 2015. wordle
