First & Last 032 - A film you love

Can you guess the movie from its first and last shot? The answer is after the jump when you scroll down...

It's Weekend (2011) Andrew Haigh's breakout piece of perfection. One of the best gay films ever made. I think his newest film All of Us Strangers (2023)  -- which also features a gay romance (this time between Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott) and takes place over a short period of time -- will be more divisive than Weekend but those who love it will LOVE it. I'm still making up my mind but it's quite a bravura piece of visual storytelling.

All of Us Strangers premieres tomorrow at the New York Film Festival.

I rarely know these, but I instantly recognized that building. Weekend is absolutely one of the best (gay) films ever made. Cannot wait for All of Us Strangers to make its way to Minnesota!

A perfect movie, and it's probably time for a re-watch now.

I don't know how but I also got it. There's nothing in these images that's very distinctive, but somehow that building lingered...

Just finished reading the novel that All Of Us Strangers is based on, and I’m very intrigued to see how the movie is adapted from it.
