Oh Ripley I disagree, when you have a parent or grandparent +\- 80 years old you’re highly aware that there may be a few (or a few good) years left. Doesn’t matter how great these people look, time comes for everyone—even the risk of losing their mind could put some well-preserved stars out of commission in a matter of months.
In 2002, 70 was considered “ancient elder statesman,” life expectancy has not improved significantly since then. Decline comes very fast.
@DK
Tell that to Clint,Michael Caine,Jane Fonda,Rita Moreno,James Hong,Shirley MacLaine,Dick Van Dyke,June Squibb,Judi Dench and the rest,Maggie Smith,Robert Duvall,Christopher Plummer and a lot of others acted well into their 80's and some their 90's,
That's a very defeatest attitude to have,some people are still relevant in old age and don't want to be pushed off into oblivion.
Kathleeen Chalfant is 80 and gave the most beautiful performance by an Actress last year,Dame Joan Collins is starring as Wallis SImpson this year and she'll be 93.
I don’t understand this argument, Ripley—apparently everyone in their late 70s and early 80s is going to live to be 100 giving sensational performances along the way. Because you named twelve old people! Has it occurred to you what makes June Squibb…exceptional?
"That's a very defeatest attitude"
That's All.
