Whether Dean is breaking hearts (including his own), shaking his body feverishly in Mexico, or relaying the fine details of an orgy, he's mesmerizing. Sal Paradise speaks for us all when he confessses: "I think of Dean Moriarty. I think of Dean Moriarty. I think of Dean... Moriarty." |

We first meet her in longshot, all nonchalant about a killing shot beside her. Is she a lethal beauty or a damsel in distress? Her smooth outer beauty barely masks a deep inner terror suggesing the act of skating on dangerously thin ice that's cracking loudly underneath your feet. Bond doesn't care. He's all ready to drown. |

HOW TO SURVIVE A PLAGUE |
MOONRISE KINGDOM |
THE PAPERBOY |
A startlingly weird but familiar (sparkler) image. Hushpuppy running toward you with the movie's audacious high spirits |
A fun distillation of mood, character (one of the protagonists is an artist), concept and comic tone |
It's tough to beat graphically bold images that capture the spirit of a subject. Think how well this pairs with "Silence = Death" |
Tasked with a difficult sell, delicate childhood spirit, fable-like settings alive with possibility, the poster designer aced it. |
Other films have tried this pulpy paperback novel approach but it's truly fitting here. Great color palette and mood. |
Finalists: Anna Karenina (selling the artifice beautifully), Cabin in the Woods (clever and intriguing), Django Unchained (bold red teaser),The Master (bottle teaser), Holy Motors (glowing eyes) |
