Get Back to Work!

Confession: Every time I see a picture of a director Baz Lurhmann or Quentin Tarantino at a party I want to scream "Get back to work, you!" If I were the boss of great directors they'd have terrible vacation time eligibility benefits. I'd maybe give them two weeks off a year. Maybe. I'd work the great ones 'round the clock. They'd surely unionize.

Baz Luhrmann, Tom Hooper, Quentin Tarantino

Here Baz and QT party post-SAG Awards with man o' Hollywood's hour Tom Hooper (The King's Speech). Hooper has won more Director's Guild competitions than either of them.

I should have said something to Tarantino for you Nathaniel. He showed up as a surprise guest to a double screening I went to of Dirty Harry/ Super Cops at the New Beverly in LA.

Hasn't Baz confirmed he's doing Gatsby?

Okay you don’t watch Oprah. Sarandon, Hunter and Spacek were all her guests for the first half of her Oscar nominees episode – Spacek is rooting for a Leo victory, Hunter’s Oscar lives with the Coen Brothers at their NY office along with Frances’, and Sarandon’s Oscar is currently apart of a museum tour!

Oh my God!

I'm ALWAYS doing that when i see Baz doing something other than working on a film. The F-word flew out of my mouth when i saw an article about Baz wanting to direct an episode of Glee. Seriously, i would be on his ass all of time. He would hate me. But then he would have Nicole or Ewan give me a call to get me off his back.

But I kinda think he needs that though. Who doesn't think that that "Australia" would have been so much better if there was someone in the background being a complete pain in his ass?

City of Lights -- i'm trying not to think about that. because... i don't want a movie of Gatsby and since he only makes 2 movies a decade i'm bummed that that's one of them -wah wah :(

have they all been to the spa recently? Has QT has his face lifted, honestly?

The thing is, I'm not sure at this point I want Baz to do more work. He only has one great film to his credit (my beloved MR); after Australia, the Chanel commercial, the weird "musical" numbers at the Oscars two years ago, plus news of the Gatsby project (never mind recycling MR onstage as La Boheme - or is that vice versa?) I don't know that Baz has any greatness left in him. He seems to be a cultural recycler, disgorging everything he sees, hears or absorbs. Ride his ass? I'd have probably fired his ass a long time ago. Whereas QT keeps surprising us and keeps proving himself revelant after - what, 20 years?

Sh*t or get off the pot, Baz.

According to the Vulture, Baz might NOT be doing Gatsby

I am so jealous of Tom Hooper's hair.

Baz and Quentin look... odd in that photo.

Quentin needs to write a part for Jacki Weaver immediately.
