I'm no good with Kidman going mainstream. Let's say for the sake of having to make a Sophie's Choice "To Die For" is her best mainstream movie -- I mean Tri-Star was a mainstream studio in the 80s!
oh. thank you! What a nice way to start the day
Practical Magic!
Dianne Wiest, Stockard Channing and Adrian Quinn are always good company.
Oh it is so long ago I saw this on tv.... I didn't even love witches yet... (it was pre Charmed) I didn't even love redheads yet... I didn't know Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing... and Sandra became my favourite actress... must've been 10 years ago...
Who would have guessed at the release of Patrical Magic that Stockard Channing would be the only one without an Oscar?
My first thought was: "The Human Stain?" Then I came to my senses.
I miss Nicole Kidman. After The Hours, she has barely registered.
Loved this movie when I was a kid. Saw it a million times. It's been a while, but I have nothing but fond memories.
Such a fun role for Kidman as a "hippy-dippy chick" (as a friend of mine put it) and not her usual "delicate/brittle flower who suffers beautifully." This was probably one of her loosest performances. *sigh* I miss this Kidman.
the only one I didn't care for was Channing, and I have loved her in other films. Here she was letting everybody know "I don't care about this shit, I'm only doing it for the paycheck." At least that's how it felt to me when I've watched it. Especially in comparison to Weist's joyful commitment to the material no matter how slight. Which may be part of the reason Weist is so well-regarded.
