Quickie Requests... June Brides?

Have you all been enjoying our sudden obsession with theme weeks, first Moulin Rouge! and now X-Men?
Next week and probably for the rest of June -- it being, well, June -- we'll have a very loose wedding theme (Don't worry if you're not so romantic. Normal blogging shall continue as well). That'll kick off with Wednesday's night's "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" episode celebrating Peggy Sue Got Married (1986) on its 25th anniversary. I haven't seen that one in well over a decade so I'm very curious. Have you seen it more recently?
Who are your favorite cinematic brides?

A few months ago when I was injured & laid up in bed I watched it for the first time in a while (it was a childhood favorite) & I was so happy that I still loved it. I'll definitely be doing this one too. Also I love bride movies, can't wait!
I'd have to think about who my favorite cinematic bride is - but my favorite cinematic fiancee is Eunice Burns. As far as wedding movies go, Altman's A Wedding is the first favorite that leaps to mind.
I've always loved the Elaine Robinson-almost wedding. She was the original runaway bride, right?
Sandra Bullock in While You Were Sleeping...Gisele in Enchated- wow I really don't like my brides getting married it seems.
I like Jeanne Moreau in The Bride Wore Black. I also like Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face, because the wedding is implied and replaced by a dance with Fred Astaire. The wedding in Disney's Sleeping Beauty was entertaining (doesn't the dress keep changing color?). But the dismal grimly unentertaining weddings in many recent movies -- I'm not going to waste time on those.

Hands-down JOAN CUSACK in IN & OUT! She was absolutely hillarious!! Even Oscar-nominated, which is hard to do for a small-turn in a comedy!!! Best thing about that film by a mile!

MY BESTFRIEND'S WEDDING.
I've probably seen this upwards of ten times and still enjoy it immensely. Easily my favorite Julia Roberts movie/perhaps only Julia Roberts movie I actually enjoy.
That should have been her Oscar clip! HAH
I love that you use the Rebeeca Romijn Mystique in the banner...I came away from First Class missing her in that role. She was like a snake.
Joan Cusack in In & Out: NOOOO! She was Bad. The movie was okay, and occasionally funny, but it just didn't click overall, and her part was almost entirely at the end and consisted of shouting for 10 minutes. Much prefer her more measured turn in Grosse Pointe Blank that year. (I've said this a few times, but I'd give ALL my acting prizes to that film. (Supporting Actor: Arkin. Supporting Actress: Joan Cusack. (Julianne Moore is the following year) Lead Actor: John Cusack. Lead Actress: Minnie Driver. (Helena Bonham Carter is two year's later.))
As for favourite wedding: Not really a fan. LOVE marital strife stories, though. Greed or Sawdust and Tinsel are probably my two favourites.

Rachel Getting Married, for sure. I've only been to weddings as a little kid so that's pretty much my go-to reference.
I also just watched both parts of Kill Bill, so: Uma!
As you can imagine, Peggy Sue was a childhood favourite of mine. It had such a huge impact on me! To my suprise, the last time I saw it I ended up sobbing! Back in the 80s I was clearly unaware of the sadness and the sense of disenchantment you get from Peg's story...
I'm sure this is a crappy cliche, but Four Weddings and a Funeral just can't be beat.
Also, the ending of The Big Easy.

I saw peggy sue 2 weeks ago and surprisingly Turner did not hold up as well and Cage barely watchable.

Actually i think Rose Biggs might be my favourite character never to appear onscreen in a film!
Monsoon Wedding seems like another obvious choice, but it still stands as the most colourful and joyous bash I've seen put to celluloid. It's almost impossible not to be swept up in it.
At the other end of the spectrum, the wedding scene in Breaking The Waves jumps to the front of my mind and makes me shudder. The austerity is so striking and the couple so vulnerable - it's heartbreaking enough the first time you see it, but on repeat viewings (when you know it's the beginning of the end) it'll slay you... so maybe not a "favorite" but certainly one of the most memorable.
